[color=#6644FF]Eyes: Other than her eyes being hazel, there’s nothing overly remarkable about them as they’re not large or even tilted one way or the other. Typical of hazel eyes, however, they do appear more green or brown depending on what colour of clothing she’s wearing.
Hair: Rhaedalyn’s hair is sometimes seen as a curly mess when the wind gets to it or it falls free of any clips. The curly locks fall just beyond her shoulders though when wet her hair reaches mid-back. Originally her hair was a medium brown and it still is near the roots and the underside but the strands that see sunlight daily have naturally lightened.

General Appearance:
Rhaedalyn is of a delicate build which her formerly pale – but now evenly tanned – skin only played up. She’s rather slim with only a hint of womanly curves on a petite stature. Any height she does have comes in her slender legs being long. Saying she has any muscular definition would be kind as she is essentially a stick. Some believe the girl doesn’t eat enough, if at all, with how slim she is and how they swear they can count her ribs. But Rhaedalyn is comfortable with her size and knows she eats properly; it’s not her fault she can eat whatever she wants and not gain weight for it!

She has an oval-shaped face that barely supports her large mouth that seems to take up her face when she smiles brightly though her lips aren’t plump and luscious like some of the other women running around the weyr. Her chin is somewhat narrow but it complements her thin nose, keeping a nice line of symmetry and proportion which makes Rhaedalyn appear to be something more than just another face in the crowd. She likes to think she’s pretty and most of the time, that’s all that matters to her!

The one thing that oddly gives her a bit of a complex is her teeth. She finds them to be freakishly straight and even, as if they’re just one piece of enamel with some lines drawn on. This odd quirk of hers makes it hard to come to terms with her smile and she will sometimes try to hide behind her hand when laughing.

Dressing Style: Rhaedalyn enjoys being a girl and dressing like one. Skirts and dresses dominate her wardrobe. The dresses have a form-fitting bodice though her normal day wear doesn’t show cleavage – not that she has much to show – and the skirts are long and flowing. She will typically stay in that style of dressing even when assigned to the crèche or out picking numbweed or berries since they provide more freedom to move around in and she doesn’t like being overly restricted like she believes pants do to her.

Colour-wise, Rhaedalyn will wear anything from earth tones to more vibrant colours. However, she tends to stick with the colours of Autumn though she couldn’t say why except they’re pretty and she’s drawn to them.

Rhaedalyn is rather sweet; once you get her to open up. She wants to make friends with everyone but it’s a bit difficult when she won’t blindly trust people immediately after meeting them. People can be deceptive and she wants to know their true face before falling for the false one. Once she’s comfortable with someone, she’ll open up more about herself and relax.

While she may try to avoid those with more boisterous and outspoken opinions of the negative variety, Katila is a small community and she can’t really escape anyone so she often ends up bullied into going along with what her fellow Candidates are up to. Despite that, however, she can and often will argue her standpoint as she usually believes herself to be right. In the end, it’s still likely she’ll be overpowered – not necessarily in a physical manner – and give up. Sometimes it’s just easier to go with the popular opinion!

Rhaedalyn is, in truth, kind of ditzy. She thinks she’s intelligent but it doesn’t go very deep and in the end she’ll end up basing decisions on appearance or what she thinks will earn her points with people. It isn’t that she doesn’t pay attention, she does! It’s just that some information refuses to stick or a topic is too deep and complicated for her simple views on things for her mind to handle.

Likes:
    Baking: She may not be the best baker around but Rhaedalyn does enjoy tinkering about in the kitchen. She’s extremely good at cookies and that’s about it. Don’t ask her to cook a full meal! It might work out but you might regret it later as well.
    Romance: It’s great being in love! Or so Rhaedalyn believes. She has yet to find the man that captures her heart but she knows exactly how it will happen. Well, she has enough fantasies of her prince swooping her off her feet to cover all bases anyway. Flowers, dinner, dancing, staring into each other’s eyes… why do so many people hate romance?
    Animals: The cute and cuddly or dragon variety, anyway! Wherries and vicious felines need not apply for her love. Rhaedalyn likes the idea of having domesticated felines curled up with her when she sews or sleeps, finding their purring to be soothing and their quiet companionship to be comforting. The idea of a dragon bonded to her makes her smile since it would be a constant she could lay her trust in and know it would be returned.
    Clothes: At a young age, Rhaedalyn loved dressing up and wanted to change clothes several times a day because she wanted to show off her wardrobe. This turned into a desire to make clothes which led her into tailoring. Now, she loves showing off her own work which she wears proudly and will be glad to make items for friends as well.
Dislikes:
    Running: Ew, getting sweaty! Rhaedalyn is not one to enjoy physical labour and there’s nothing at all attractive about running. You sweat, you smell, you pant, and you make funny faces. The pain in her side after running anywhere is not worth saving a few seconds or pleasing teachers enforcing healthy routines on them.
    Direct Sunlight: Being in the sun for extended periods of time is something she tries her best to avoid. Given her pale skin when she first arrived to the hot South, she burned easily and that was most uncomfortable! When the burn faded into a tan, she felt dirty, not at all used to seeing herself so dark. Not to mention that the hotter days made for sweaty days, something she doesn’t enjoy at all. Hats have become common attire.
    Crying Kids: She has nothing against children of any age, honest! She can even appreciate their innocence as well as their direct way of seeing things or telling it as it is but the crying needs to stop. It makes her cringe and if the crying goes on for too long, a headache forms.
Habits/Mannerisms: Rhaedalyn often tries to hide behind her hand when laughing since she doesn’t like her teeth, which is interesting since she giggles a lot. She’ll also twirl locks of hair around her fingers when she’s lost in thought or bored which many assume is a constant thing with how regularly she’ll do it during meals or lessons. When she’s nervous or anxious, cleaning is the distraction of choice even though she’s normally not a neat freak – though she’s hardly a natural disaster blowing through a room either.
Strengths: Rhaedalyn, while not the smartest kid in any class she’s ever been in, is clever and prides herself in seeing the larger picture and figuring out all options. Being creative helps her in areas where cleverness is needed as much as an unique viewpoint. Thinking outside the box never hurts! She will also find a way to adapt to all situations. Being kidnapped for Katila’s future wasn’t something she wanted nor did she overly like the actual lifestyle but she’s learned to accept it for what it is and find aspects she enjoys. Being allowed and encouraged to make clothes and mend others has helped with this.
Weaknesses: Rhaedalyn is a bit shy when she first meets someone. This is due to her trust issues. Even she can’t quite explain what brought that on but she’s very cautious around new people and won’t put her trust in anyone until they’ve proved they deserve it. Once she gets to know someone and likes them, she’s very bubbly and open. Saying she’s manipulative might be a bit of a stretch but when she feels like she’s not getting her way or a man might not be paying her enough attention, she’s more than willing to play up her delicate appearance and have it seem like she can’t do anything lest she break.

Background Story:
209 AL: Rhaedalyn is born to Rhaede and Marnie, their first child.
210-214 AL: Rhaedalyn is the typical spoiled baby girl even with two of her siblings being born. Her father is a busy Healer but her mother spends all of her time with the children.
215-219 AL: The births of her next two siblings don’t change the amount of attention her parents give to them all. Rhaedalyn is often read fairy tales with happily ever after endings and all adults around her encourage her to find her own, except for the Harper charged with teaching the young girl who wishes she was more grounded.
220-222 AL: Rhaedalyn starts dabbling with creating her own fashion style and teaching herself how to sew enough to improve existing articles with her own little touch. The Harper tells her about Southern Boll but her parents don’t want her travelling that far away and keep her at home.
223 AL: While the typical age for joining a Hall is twelve, Rhaedalyn doesn’t receive permission to start a tailoring apprenticeship until just before her fourteenth birthday. Her parents considered marrying her off to a lord and wanted to keep their options open early on. When she showed a true passion for clothing and a friend within Telgar Hold said he could get her an apprenticeship with their tailor, thus keeping Rhaedalyn closer to home, her parents agreed.
224-228 AL Rhaedalyn lives within the Hold in a small room she shares with another apprentice and studies regularly with the Harper to help educate her (no one would say Telgar denied luxuries to their wards!) as well as learning daily the basics of sewing and moving into more complicated patterns. She also catches glimpses of the Telgar heir early on and as she grows older, a crush develops on the man she’s never had a chance to speak to. He’s so handsome and surly a kind soul!
229 AL: A few months after her twentieth birthday, walking back to the main Hold after a fun evening of dancing at their sponsored Gather, Rhaedalyn is approached by a handsome man that knew all the right things to say. She doesn’t trust easily but still she’s flattered by the attention and had a glass of wine making her relax a bit more and falls into a conversation with the man. While dancing in the moonlight to a song the man sang for them, she was suddenly grabbed and carted to a dragon. Upon seeing the beast, Rhaedalyn quickly fainted and woke again on Candidate Isle to her new life.
230 AL: She’s still not overly thrilled with Katila or how she was taken there but Rhaedalyn tries to find the best in the situation. Slowly she starts to understand her skills in tailoring is needed as well as her high chance of Impressing one of the dragons Pern will be in need of again.
231 AL: Her first Hatching! Rhaedalyn doesn’t know what to expect, despite the classes she attended. When the mauling began, she did her best to stifle the screams they were warned not to make and barely kept from fainting. So much blood! At the end of it all, she hadn’t Impressed and while disappointed, felt it was for the best as she wasn’t ready yet. But Rhaedalyn knew that she did want the honour after seeing her classmates with their bonded.
232 AL: Another Hatching! Another disappointment for Rhaedalyn. Both clutches had seen a gold break shell and she was convinced she was destined for that colour, though she supposed a green could be rather lovely as well since they were so graceful and elegant in the air. She struggles briefly with the guilt of disappointing the weyr by still not Impressing and continues to ignore D’ren’s announcement that women need to have at least one child before Standing. After all, not only did she want to stay pure for the love of her life but she had been filed away with other Candidates that seemed right for gold and had still be shoved onto the Sands when the little cutie popped out. Some rules didn’t apply to everyone!

Rhaedalyn sighed as she watched Z’ia from across the Dining Hall. How could a man be so perfect! He had adorable curly dark hair, eyes that danced with life, a smile that charmed, and an energy to him that seemed infectious and could draw you into anything he planned. Well, she supposed as Z’ia and his friend D’hys – talk about a disgusting amount of too much muscle! – both stood up to leave, Z’ia did have one flaw to keep him from being the perfect sparkling gem he was so close to being. He was short. Rhaedalyn always envisioned her prince would be taller than her, perhaps a good foot taller, making them the perfect height difference for maximum cuteness and protection. As she watched the two blueriders joke and laugh as they readied themselves to leave, she noticed they had that height difference.

She sighed again, this time with a hint of sadness instead of dreamy longing.

When the men walked by her, however, she straightened up a bit more and tried to look up at Z’ia as he passed but her shyness took over and she couldn’t do more than fidget with her hands in her lap. He was never going to notice her! Her life would simply end if he didn’t ask her to dance at the next gathering. But how was she going to manage that feat when he had D’hys, A’liran, and a few others always around him, taking up his time and seeming to be extremely interesting to her perfect dragonrider?

Perhaps a gift of a handcrafted shirt! Hazel eyes lit up at the idea and Rhaedalyn wondered why she hadn’t thought of that sooner. Z’ia didn’t seem to regard clothing as the most important thing in his life but surely a shirt made with purity and adoration would be something he’d cherish and even wear to the gathering he would surely ask her to, right?

What would the next gathering be, anyway? Likely Turnover or maybe she’d wait until the hatching celebration. She could be a dragonrider then herself! The two clutches she stood for had both seen a beautiful gold break shell and while they hadn’t selected her, Rhaedalyn couldn’t keep from imagining what it would be like to have the sweet little girl approach her and bond. She couldn’t picture herself on any other colour though she did adore all the dragons in general. But gold, now that was a good colour and it would bring out the gold highlights in her otherwise drab eyes of hazel. Not that she would use the sweet dear as an accessory! Oh no, but it was a nice perk.

Goldriders always landed strong bronzeriders as well and while there were some – like R’nya, now that was an extremely fine example of man – that she wouldn’t mind falling in love with and having a nice life together, Rhaedalyn felt she could break the rules and let a bluerider be her mate.

Oh dear and there she went thinking about Z’ia again! She chided herself for acting like a giddy young teenager. Her life didn’t revolve around daydreaming about men, she was a doer! Or so she tried to convince herself as she brought her dishes back to the counter for the kitchen folk to deal with. She was smart, creative, and quite talented in her craft. She was also happy, as odd as it was given the circumstances that brought her to Katila but she had adapted and accepted the reasoning for taking her. She was needed for her skills and her eligibility to Impress. Just because the latter hadn’t happened yet didn’t mean it wouldn’t. She was still young and she knew many had Impressed a few turns older than her since the times had changed and called for tradition to be broken with younger Candidates Standing.

She would Impress, she would fall madly in love and share the perfect romantic life with a man, and she would continue to dress the weyr in her creations. Rhaedalyn liked those goals and barely contained girlishly skipping out of the Hall.
