Appearance

   

Eyes: Light brown, somewhat bushy brows try to take away the attention that bright, vivid, blue, almond-shaped eyes captivate admirers with.

Hair: Blonde, tousled locks are kept on the shorter side. At times it grows a bit longer into a messy shag that his mother pesters him about until he cuts it again.

Height: 5'7 (6'1 when finished growing)

General Appearance: For all intents and purposes, Ayontay would not be classified as a handsome man due to somewhat bushy eyebrows, ears that seem a smidge too large, and a nose that is a bit wide. Yet somehow, he owns these features with a confidence that shines through in his smile.

Given that he’s just entering his teenage years, Ayontay still has some baby fat clinging to him. However, he does stay active and with the desire to one day be a dragonrider, Ayontay has started exercising on a regular basis to tone up developing muscles which will hopefully also help make him look less lanky as while he’s still growing, a recent growth spurt has shot him up to be taller than most of his fellow ‘brats.

Dressing Style: Ayontay has a simple taste in clothing that usually leaves him in comfortable and practical pants with a short-sleeved shirt in varying colours. The one item of clothing he prefers and is always kept in pristine condition is a deep red jacket in a similar style to one worn by his father.

One other important piece that Ayontay always wears is a necklace that is a simple piece of bark wrapped up in the leather cord that keeps it around his neck. To most it would be a strange accessory but to Ayontay, it is a reminder of one of his favourite places in Katila; a large tree that he used to climb and spend hours in.
   

   

Personality

   

General Character Traits: Ayontay is a pretty laidback boy that almost prefers to observe than participate when given the chance. It's not that he's anti-social or thinks himself too good to interact with certain people, but he wants to know more about someone before letting them get close. To him, it simply seems to be a waste of energy to get to know someone and let them in only to have them betray you or not want to be friends anymore. Overall, he's easy to get along with since he's not the confrontational type but the amount of close or dear friends can be counted on one hand.

Having been raised by his mother and the women that worked in the creche, Ayontay finds it easier to get along with women. While he would occasionally tag along after the older boys when they got together to play and would shadow the more recently Impressed dragonriders, he always felt more comfortable in the presence of women. Boys sometimes confuse him with their shows of dominance and what could trigger an array of emotions. Ayontay often finds it funny that women are said to be the more sensitive sex that had emtionally fits at the drop of a feather since he found them to be strong and rather stable.

Perhaps having so many mothers raise him is also the reason why he's so good with his sister, Wynera. Ayontay fell in love with her the moment she was born and was always there to help look after her. While he wouldn't refer to himself as someone that's good in a crisis or even a solid shoulder to lean on, Ayontay does try to be there for his closest friends, lend support how he can and generally being a bit of a mother to them with making sure they've eaten or remembered their jacket if it's a cooler day and they're about to go off to explore.

Habits/Mannerisms: Bites his nails when thinking or nervous.

Opinions:
   Threadfall Theory: Doesn't believe it actually happened since he only has tales the adults tell them to scare them before bed to go by.
   Stealing/Kidnapping: He wasn't old enough to fully understand it at the time and now that it's in the past, he doesn't really think about it.
   Firelizards: Adorable! He was so excited when he was given an egg after moving North.
   Return North: Okay with it. Katila's the only home he knows but he's interested in seeing what the rest of the world looks like after hearing stories from the old dragonriders.

Likes:
   Stories: Not so much the fantasy ones like Rhaedalyn likes to tell but the ones the old dragonriders tell about their time before the Plague. Sure, some might be exaggerated, but Ayontay still thinks they're cool.
   Wood-working: He's still learning the trade but he enjoys the fine detail work and concentration that comes with the job. He mostly makes simple objects or lends a hand to those more skilled in the field. His goal is to make toy figurines.
   Hiking/Exploring: Like any curious child, Ayontay likes to see how far he's allowed to venture out and what's around him. Nature is relaxing and he likes meandering through forests and discovering what secrets they hide.

Dislikes:
   Laundry: Sometimes helping his mother or in the creche meant running dirty clothes to the laundry workers or assisting them in scrubbing stains. Some things are forever stained on the mind and he has learned to carefully bundle up a pile of clothes.
   Swimming/Deep Water: Before he learned to swim, some of the older kids picked on him and kept dunking him under the water, watching him flounder. While he'll go to the lake with friends and even sit in the shallows, Ayontay hates water deep enough that can cover his head.
   Klah: Not only is it disgusting, he can't help but wonder why people would put something in their body to change how they function. A proper night's rest is more than enough to get you moving in the morning.

Strengths:
   Resourceful: Ayontay is good at using what he has and making the best out of a situation.
   Respectful: His mother raised him to respect his elders and the heirarchy of the Weyr; which has been in place for so long and seems to work so he doesn't have a problem in doing so.
   Observant: Not being as actively social as others, Ayontay notices body language or even secret glances or get togethers while he sits back. He likes seeing how the bigger picture functions with its details.

Flaws:
   Timid: Not the most outgoing of boys, Ayontay can be hesitant to approach those that out rank him or simply intimidate him.
   Obvious: Ayontay isn't that great at hiding what he's thinking or feeling. Gawking at someone? They'll know. Curious what someone is up to? They'll notice him watching.
   Superstitious: For the most part, Ayontay knows they aren't real and it won't matter if he crosses paths with a black cat or not but he still can't help but have the old rhymes run through his head when he sees it happening or even go out of his way to avoid taking a certain path.

Background Story:
725 & Born: Ayontay is born in the first month of the year. Tyeravi carried on a short but sweet relationship with R'nd but knowing his issue with commitment, she never mentioned the child was his. That being said, her sense of humour had her naming the boy after the blue dragon of her lover.
726-728 & 1-3: Spends time playing in the creche or in his mom's care. He's a pretty quiet child and stays out of everyone's hair.
729 & 4: After another fun romp with R'nd, Tyeravi gives birth to a daughter, Wynera. Ayontay is excited to have a sibling.
730-733 & 5-8: Ayontay has taken easily to being a big brother and helps look after his sister as much as he can when he's not off playing or having basic lessons with a Harper.
734 & 9: The landslide happens at the start of the year. Old enough to realize what level of devastation the diaster has brought, Ayontay does his best to keep a brave face for his mom and sister but inside he's falling apart and wants someone to comfort him. He's lost friends and dragons he liked to play with and saw families of friends torn apart and he doesn't know how to help. While he had always been a bit excited for it, Ayontay is now more than ready for the move North after so many good memories being tainted by the landslide.
735 & 10: Continues to help wherever he can in Telgar Weyr to make it feel more like a home for everyone, especially his family. Sure his mom has male companions, but never truly having a male role model in their lives, Ayontay tries to pick up the slack, especially for his sister, making sure she's spoiled. For all of his help and hard work, his mom gets him a firelizard egg that soon hatches to reveal a blue firelizard.
736-737 & 11-12: With two more Weyrs about to open up, Ayontay begs his mom for them to stay at Telgar. He wants to see more of the world but they're finally settled in and Telgar feels like home. Besides, his dad stayed and while he's not as confident and brave as his half-brother, T'ryn, to announce who he is to R'nd, Ayontay likes observing the bluerider and learning who his dad is without any sort of filter or awkwardness.
