R’nd hadn’t had time to really think on Larrikith’s explanation for B’jin’s mood before the greenrider was looking for a pleasant distraction. He had no objections, of course, always finding himself up for such intimacies with B’jin and with the way he had taken control, R’nd found he had completely forgotten about anything that may have been upsetting his lover and focused solely on pleasing the man and giving him what he wanted.
Now that they were curled up together, their limbs tangled together as much as the bedding was, R’nd found his mind wandering back to what had prompted the amazing romp. He still held no objections but worried a bit about what had happened that day. Larrikith had said something about old friends but she had said it oddly. His mind was still a bit muddled from what had just taken place and the way B’jin had behaved – none of which he classified as bad things – so he silently cuddled with his lover, trying to piece it all together. R’nd always had a terrible need to make sure his friends were happy and doing well and the fact that there might be something bothering B’jin bothered R’nd even more.
B’jin’s words of thanks came just as R’nd remembered what exactly the greenrider was going to do that day while he was out visiting Rhaedalyn. B’jin was at Harper Hall and old friends, as Larrikith had worded it, would indeed have two meanings behind it. R’nd had been lucky with returning to see his family after so long away. He had Impressed in his early twenties so while his aging had slowed thanks to the bond, he still looked somewhat his age and friends and relatives from his youth didn’t look that much older than him. B’jin, on the other hand, Impressed at twenty and was now a bit older than that so anyone he had known at that time would have aged normally and now show a few wrinkles and grey hair. R’nd didn’t really know how it would feel to go through that, seeing people your age that weren’t truly a reflection of how you looked as well. He knew he’d better get used to it though given the path he had chosen in life.
R’nd wasn’t really even sure what to say that would comfort B’jin but held the man a little tighter for a moment before relaxing his embrace again as he never liked making B’jin feel trapped. “Aw, love, thank me for what? I’m always here for you, even without these sort of unexpected yet very pleasant welcome homes,” he laughed softly and placed a kiss atop B’jin’s head. R’nd was all about manners but he really didn’t think he needed to be thanked for doing something he loved; like being with B’jin.
