If it wasn’t for the stick tossed at his back that actually stung and had him giving a startled yelp, Valerian would have ignored her new rant and continued on, leaving her to whine and sulk alone. As it was, he spun back around, eyes narrowing on the troublemaker, both annoyed with her antics and determined to track her movements to avoid another attack. At least it wasn’t stones! He could only imagine being laid out by one well aimed stone to the head and the brat would run off to leave him unconscious in the forest for felines to dine on, gnawing on his bones leisurely as an after-meal group bonding activity. Apparently he needed to tone down his hyper-active imagination when it came to some scenarios.
“If you would take a moment to think, I know it’ll be hard but just try, I didn’t mispronounce your name.” Valerian rolled his eyes, already tired of helping the girl to work through a puzzle that really wasn’t that difficult. How had he ever managed to teach for so many turns before being Stolen? He had no patience for the young or stupid. “I only said the first half of your name because I couldn’t be bothered to remember the name of a snot-nosed whining brat in the middle of a hissy fit who would rather complain about something rather than actually do something to change it.”
