Valerian had decided, like usual, to spend his free time away from everyone else which meant he was either in his room or in the forest. The afternoon saw him heading for the tree he 'owned' with Erisi, not particularly in a rush to get there and enjoying the cooler weather that was starting to set in. While there was typically rustling of leaves from the light breeze that made its way through the trees and even the occasional animal rooting about in bushes, the noises the Harper caught on his stroll were a bit unusual and warranted him to stop and listen.
He swore he heard a voice, a young girl's, not too far away but it sounded like it was coming from above which didn't make a lot of sense and had Valerian questioning if he had been in the sun too long at some point or if his meal had been undercooked and he was now suffering hallucinations. When he saw something fall several trees away only to be identified as a young girl as she stood and scrambled back up the tree, Valerian was fairly convinced he actually was suffering some sort of head trauma.
At least until she started ranting again. He wasn't sure what the 'one turn' part was about but he did catch the attitude behind her claim she would be a better dragonrider than any of those Stolen from the North. Given some of his classmates, she probably would be but Valerian wasn't letting the brat get the satisfaction in knowing she had some justification behind her temper tantrum. "Hey, tree girl. They're probably keeping you away from the Sands because they know if you had a dragon at your disposal during one of your hissy fits you'd level the Weyr."
