R’nya relaxed at Rhaedalyn’s teasing words, a small, crooked smile tugging up one corner of his lips as he arched an eyebrow in the most R’nya of ways. He was more than slightly charmed by the gentle flirting, but it had taken him by surprise and so a response was slow to come to him, and instead allowed Rhaedalyn time to add more. “As am I, my dear.” He really did not like to consider what would have happened if he and Xyreith had not made it down to Katila for the flight. The lack of leadership linked to Aradissicath flying and the dragon that caught her had no effect on R’nya; he was far more worried about the prospect of someone else laying hands on the sweet goldrider. He had barely managed to mind his manners while she was playing Weyrmates with that little blue bastard. To have her and her dragon caught by another bronze? Outrageous!
In the darkness, R’nya’s face softened with affection as Rhaedalyn moved to shift the sheets, gentle amusement lingering under the surface though he made no comment, simply watched her attack the fabric between her fingers. He reached out gently to rescue the bedding from her attack, but paused as Rhaedalyn took to speaking softly, listening with his head tilted slightly. R’nya’s breath caught at the added confession, eyes wide as the words danced around him, and through his mind. The bronzerider’s face light up brightly, despite the darkness, and he shifted to sit up, maintaining the sheet across his lap purely for Rhaedalyn’s modesty.
“Never,” R’nya murmured gently, leaning over with light hands on Rhaedalyn’s waist and he lifted the woman bodily the short distance and into his lap. Arms wove affectionately around Rhaedalyn and he nuzzled the side of her neck, placing light kisses there before trailing along her collarbone and up the other side of her neck, pausing long enough to pull back and study her face in the darkness, making sure he had not misread the meaning in her words. When he was sure she was not going to attack him, he smiled crookedly and touched the tip of his nose to her own, then leaned in to kiss her affectionately.
