R’nd stared in horror as Amarilla decided he was B’jin’s son. Why would she think such a thing? How could she think such a thing? He is much older than you, Ayyonth contributed, as helpful as always. Not that much older! Well, maybe, but that doesn’t mean—
And you both have similar hair colour and facial features, Ayyonth continued, enjoying the chance to pick on his rider more than usual. No we do not! Well, maybe a little… very little! R’nd was close to having a mental breakdown and Ayyonth’s snickering in the back of his mind wasn’t helping anything. Of course he knew B’jin was older than him and had even put the numbers together once that Larrikith was roughly the same age as him but R’nd didn’t like to dwell on that fact and easily brushed away out of mind, like he did with so many other things he didn’t like to think too long on. He never would have assumed he’d be called his lover’s son, though!
Then again, looking at the beautiful woman before him and the age she was showing, it did drill home the fact that B’jin was roughly the same age as Amarilla and the lady made the obvious assumption since dragonriders don’t age as quickly. Why else would her once-upon-a-time lover bring along another man to their secret meeting after so much time apart? Now that the shock had passed, R’nd could almost see the humour in it; almost.
The way B’jin had been sputtering and still looked a little pale, R’nd decided he was on his own for damage control and smiled once more as Amarilla blushed and apologised for her assumption. He could tell why B’jin fell so easily for the lady as she was rather pretty even when embarrassed. “No, my lady. We are the ones who should be apologising to you for leading you into such confusion. Please, don’t spend another moment dwelling on it. This is meant to be a joyous reunion, is it not? There should only be smiles, laughter, and maybe a few tears but only of the happy variety.”
