Indivara’s eyes shot open, a whole army of emotions marching across her face and through her eyes as she studied the egg before her, so little and so strange and so incredibly insightful. Her eyebrows knit, and Indivara’s fingers flexed slightly atop the hardened shell. The lingering sensation of encouragement was heavy, like a warm jumper on a cool day, enveloping her and reaffirming her courage.
Unfortunately, Indivara was not quite sure on how to answer the questions that the little dragon within the shell had brought forth. Partly, it was simply because Indivara had never been inclined to self-analysing, and the in order to answer those questions, she would indeed be required to dig deep into her own thoughts and emotions, and consider things she wasn’t sure she’d be at all comfortable considering. In the end, she justified it as doing what she did, because she did it. She did not need a reason, and she never had, surely. Why start now?
Indivara stubbornly ignored all common sense that attempted to point out that she had reasons for everything, even if she weren’t prepared to face those reasons or acknowledge them. Tossing her braid back over her shoulder, Indivara pet the little egg once, in parting, and stood up as tall as her diminutive height allowed her, peering around at the candidates and the eggs curiously as she sought an unoccupied shell to present herself to next.
In the process, her attention was drawn to Ryvian, and she watched him quietly for a few moments, before turning away to a new egg, her gaze almost vague as she didn’t focus on anything in particular for a moment – and then suddenly she was walking purposefully through the eggs, and slipping easily past the bodies of her fellow candidates. Her end goal, the Hope Egg was reached at last, and Indivara peered down at it for a few moments.
Excitement brewed under the surface, and Indivara pulled her pants up slightly at the thighs as she squatted down next to the pretty, decidedly large egg. A slight smile tilted her lips up, and played with the design of her facial scars as she reached out her right hand, and laid it gently upon the surface of the egg with a spike of excited anticipation. How was it that this egg would respond?
