Seeing the little gold stride confidently to her chosen brought an intense amount of joy to the farmcrafter and the wide smile on her face was easy to see. Blessed be, at least this one was whole and healthy! She barely held in the shudder as the image of the last gold hatchling flashed through her mind and she firmly pushed it back into its box from which it was never meant to escape. No, this one was whole and healthy and apparently a confident little thing by the way she carried herself.
That big, wide smile faltered a little when Aparicus saw which woman had impressed it – or young girl rather. Little Casa. Apari highly approved of the young girl who seemed to have a very stable head on her shoulders and had been a great deal of help in her gardens, but was the girl really old enough for a dragon? More importantly, would she be old enough for a queen when the gold rose to the skys in two turns? What age would that make the child?
Aparicus shivered at the thought and remembered her own childhood with its haunting memories. Boxing up those memories had given her the practice and ability to box up the sight of the dead little queen, but she wasn’t quite so sure that she would sleep easily tonight.
Gathering up her white candidate robe around her, she quickly made her way off the sands to stand at the edge and finish watching the hatching. The last thing she wanted to do was to be in the middle of the sands should a little dragon trip and stumble with her in the way. As if on queue the sands were soon covered in ichor and Aparicus covered her mouth appropriately, giving the little blue a sorrowful look. Surely he would be okay now that his boded had found him…
