Explanation or no, B’jin still flinched when the hand came for his face, brown eyes flashing with fear before he visibly forced himself to relax and not jerk away. D’hys wasn’t hurting him. D’hys wasn’t hurting him. He wasn’t, and the chant was just about written on B’jin’s face as he raised his own hand to brush lightly at his lip again, frowning unhappily. “Yeah,” he murmured, voice a little rough around the edges. He took a deep breath in. It was sighed out a moment later, with a slight relaxing of his shoulders; he was coiled as tightly as ever, though he was doing his best not to freak out.
The sudden realisation that he was literally alone – no dragon, no Weyr, no one – with D’hys and his blue had his shoulders stiffening all over again and B’jin’s breath caught in his throat. Brown eyes, wide with a sudden terror, were darting around without looking at D’hys when he spotted it – the nest. B’jin’s fear was forgotten in a very visible instant as he rocked forward onto his hands and knees and scuttled forward to where the eggs were located and then sat down again, forgetting about D’hys. The expression on his face was unexpectedly malicious.
“Stupid bitch.” Clearly he was speaking of the gold queen, and he flicked a couple of smaller eggs across the sands with little care for what was in them, though he didn’t mistreat them heavily enough to actually break or damage them. It only took him a few moments, before he had settled on what were clearly three of the biggest eggs in the clutch. Turning suddenly, B’jin stared up at D’hys with the same slightly malicious, cold expression. “Which is bigger?”
The hands holding the eggs were extended so D’hys could see what was in them, as B’jin twisted so he could collect his feet under himself and stand up, gaze flickering between eggs and bluerider. Eyebrows lifted expectantly as B’jin frowned when an answer wasn’t immediately forthcoming, the expression forming into a grumpy pout.
