“I’ve been told that before,” Ryvian grinned, amused that Indivara was calling him that after what he had done to her. Normally he was called strange, odd, and weird because of his seemingly everlasting optimism and laidback attitude where it seemed like nothing could bring him down or ruin his day. He had news for those people now; he definitely could reach low points. Life as he had known it was over but if he didn’t think about it, then Ryvian was able to keep smiling and moving forward like always, like nothing was wrong in his life.
When Indivara stated they should get out, it was Ryvian’s turn to want to sulk and not leave the water. He knew they should since his hands were as bad off as hers but he was enjoying the time in the water far more than he would enjoy the time on land. It didn’t matter what happened that day outside of the bathhouse since he had slept with Indivara within the building. It was pretty hard to top that after finally getting to tap that. Given the way the day had already shown him how uncertain life could be, Ryvian placed a final kiss on his friend’s cheek before nudging her forward so he could slip out of the water to fulfill the duty he had signed himself up for.
Several towels had been left on the bench by good Samaritans – or residents that were tired of naked dragonriders streaking around the Weyr after unexpected flights – and Ryvian grabbed one to sling around his waist. He didn’t bother properly drying himself since he had no plans of putting his Candidate robe back on and the day’s heat would dry him soon enough. Instead of going to fetch the clothes right away, Ryvian grabbed another towel and held it up by the water for Indivara to stand up and wrap herself in. Pretending he was a gentleman, he held the towel a bit above his eyes so she wouldn’t have reason to complain. “Hop out of the water and dry off while I go find the clothing for you.”
