The sun was far too bright and the crowd far too chipper for Ryvian as he shuffled alongside Indivara. Most of the time he forgot she was there despite the way he leaned against her though he made vague and softly spoken comments about not wanting to bathe but wanting to go to bed. He was tired! So very tired. Still, he allowed himself to be led to wherever Indivara wanted him, trusting his friend entirely. She was currently the only factor in his life that hadn’t changed on him and it was reassuring. Sure, she was a mother now and sometimes had a squealing baby around her and she didn’t smack him nearly as much as before but at least she hadn’t wandered off with a dragonet and forgotten him behind.
When the order came to kick off his boots, Ryvian did so with a bit of struggle though stripping off the robe was much easier and quicker. He didn’t turn away from Indivara or insult either of them by pretending he was shy and didn’t want her to see him naked. He’d strut around in the nude half the day every day if he could! The robe was dropped to the ground and given a light kick, sending it sliding along the floor a few feet before it came to a rest. Ryvian stared at it a moment and then obeyed the command to get into the water. He didn’t want a bath but it did seem warm and inviting all the same.
Once seated, he let out a long sigh that even he couldn’t tell if it was borne of relief or longing. The water felt nice on his aching body but the day had hurt him far deeper than sex and alcohol could. “Don’t?” Ryvian blinked a couple of times to come out of his trance and stared at Indivara curiously. What wasn’t he supposed to do? Why did she have to be so cryptic? He was about to pout when his usual self popped up briefly and Ryvian smirked just as briefly as he realized what she was referring to. “Only this once do you get a free pass.” Next time they were alone in a tub, however, would be a different story!
“I’m not very hungry …or thirsty really. Maybe later though?” Ryvian was still trying to smile as his gaze swept between his friend and the way his fingers skimmed over the surface of the water as something to keep himself busy with. “I should really get to bed soon. I didn’t get much sleep before the Hatching. I was with Z’ia,” Ryvian grinned, as he replayed some of the finer points of the night with the bluerider, using it as a pleasant distraction from all the emotions and realizations that were creeping up on him. He was a naturally cheerful man but so reliant on his twin as well that Ryvian couldn’t figure out what mood he was in or how to stay in the more selfish and depressive one.
