The nervousness rolling off the bluerider was practically malleable, and B’jin twisted slightly where he was sitting so he could more face his lover than lean against him. Watching R’nd carefully, B’jin’s head was tilted slightly to the left and his eyes just slightly narrowed though the excited anticipation was still lingering around him. Whatever R’nd had in store, he was nervous about it, and he was so rarely nervous that it really only made B’jin more curious and excited to see what it was hidden up the man’s sleeve.
The piece of rolled parchment that came out of hiding caused the greenrider’s face to brighten noticeably, and he took it gently when it was offered, flashing a bright smile at R’nd’s echoing of another birthday wish, brown eyes sparkling with fond amusement. Gentle hands unrolled the paper material, being cautious of smudging what might be on the inside; he spread it across his lap. He chewed on his bottom lip thoughtfully as his gaze swept over the image; side-to-side, up and down, taking in all the details as his fingers danced lightly along the edges, careful of smudging and careful to keep it from rolling back up on itself.
Sparkling eyes lifted to search out R’nd’s. “This is lovely,” he murmured, clearly thrilled. The art was rudimentary – mostly by B’jin’s standards for his own skill, rather than any immediate lack on R’nd’s part – but the time and effort put into it were not. While he would be wary of voicing his narrow opinion at the idea that R’nd had any real artistic talent, the bluerider had done a great job with what he had created and even if he hadn’t… B’jin carefully let the image roll back up on itself, and set it aside on top of the little bag it had come from.
Turning his attention back to his lover, B’jin rose onto his knees and crept as far into R’nd’s personal space as he could get, arms wrapping lightly around his friend, bringing their faces close enough that their noses were almost touching. “I love it.” There were deeper implications in the words, but B’jin didn’t clarify them more than that, and opted not to give R’nd time to think on it too much as he closed the distance between lips.
