Ryvian felt like he had spent the night drinking and was only now feeling the consequences with his head pounding and mouth so dry. His limbs and back ached a bit as well and that wouldn’t have bothered him so much if he had done something wonderfully naughty the previous night to warrant such a thing. Instead, it seemed like he was coming down with a cold and that just made him want to sulk. He never got sick! Well, it was rare enough to feel like he never got sick. So it made for a pouty, sulky twin that wanted to stay in bed all morning. Unfortunately he had eggs to Touch.
It was hard to be fully enthusiastic over his sixth Touching given how many dragons that totalled that hadn’t wanted him but for Nyvian’s sake, Ryvian was still smiling and doing his best to put a bounce in his step. Perhaps being sick wasn’t too bad after all; it was a good excuse to fall back on when anyone called him out for acting odd.
At the Sands, Ryvian nodded in agreement to the lecture, as he always did, but barely paid attention. He had grown up around dragons and been through enough Touchings that he could tell everyone else what to do and not do. Okalinath prancing over to them, however, was not something he could recall ever happening and counted it as the one thing that could still manage to surprise him at a Touching. He laughed at her enthusiasm and eyed the egg she had said would be a wonderful one for him to Touch but then shook his head. He’d get to it soon enough but Indivara would be with Jada and Krypth at the other clutch and since she was missing out on this one as well, Ryvian wanted to let her see the first few eggs he Touched.
Moving over to Krypth’s clutch with a few others from his class, Ryvian gave a smile and wave to his friend and then focused on the eggs. A bleached and splotchy looking one caught his eye first and Ryvian made his way over to it, leaning over to place his palm on the shell.
Jealousy.
