Sunset, and Ravana was settled on her porch and working with a bit of sandpaper to smooth out a worry stone as a gift for B'run. Shanith was playing with one of Terken's canines, happy to bounce around the yard and make as much noise as she wanted.
As the sky darkened a bit, Ravana reached behind her to turn on a glow, unaware of Olemuth settling nearby, watching Shanith without his usual calm. Waiting. The green had been like R'ana today, off-kilter and deeply in need of physical contact. Ravana was glad the canines were distracting her from that. Now if only she could distract herself. She wished she could just find B'run, but she was trying to give the poor man some time off from being surrounded by women. This would pass. Her odd moods always did.
Ravana focused on her rock, enjoying a moment alone. It was a rarity of late between fussing over B'run, making sure she at least saw Berani everyday, working with Terken and helping Jisralna with her own baby and her injuries from the mauling at the hatching. Not for the first time, she had the thought that the lot of them should just move in together and call themselves a family unit. She dismissed it, she would never be able to earn enough to construct the hut, and she doubted the weyrleader would permit her to all but found a small hold at Katila.
Shanith stilled, uncertain suddenly. Ravana raised her head and blinked at her. Glowing. Her green was glowing. She froze, terror slamming into her, tangled up with her green's rising need. No Shanith looked to her, the telltale red slipping into her eyes with each passing second. "You're early!" She had laid plans with B'run for this, but for next week! Not now!
Shanith moved to comfort her rider, then paused. For a long moment, red eyes looked to Olemuth, and she creeled softly, knowing he might not catch her and apologizing for being so damn small now, while she was herself. She took off into the air and R'ana felt it hit her that her dragon was flying now, whether she was ready or not. Her green hopped to her roof and shrieked, then called to the weyr,Boys! Fly with me! With that, Shanith was into the air pulling high into the sky above R'ana's hut.
R'ana darted into her hut for the bag she kept handy with a change of clothes, first aid and sewing kit for Shanith's flights and felt Shanith take her mind before leaving her hut occurred to her. They flew as one now, earthly concerns like R'ana's determination to protect her haven from this and her terror of this being left further behind with each powerful beat of green wings.
