Startled, Rhaedalyn glanced up at R’nya when he called someone ridiculous. She didn’t fully believe it was aimed at her since it was more likely for Xyreith or Kahleena but she wanted to make sure. Satisfied that it wasn’t her that was being ridiculous, Rhaedalyn grabbed a small chunk of meat and fed it to the slightly more behaved Muffin in her lap. Her fair usually ended up eating more than she did but he never minded. She had always been on the slender side and ate sparsely at times so it didn’t bother her to keep tossing food at the firelizards, especially when their combined hunger had been more uncomfortable than any she had felt on her own before.
All of the giggling continued to make Rhaedalyn feel left out but she also liked hearing it. It was a pleasant sound and a clear sign that her friend was enjoying herself. Sometimes, laughter was sparse amongst those Stolen from their lives. It had been such a rare sound in the Candidate Barracks a couple of turns ago that she almost felt guilty when she was the one that was enjoying herself. Again she wondered what it was like to more or less see in two places at once and always be entertained when she was physically trapped somewhere boring. It was obvious she was missing out on all the fun right then with dragons drooling on each other!
Finally, a pleased chirp from Whisper grabbed Rhaedalyn’s attention and she saw the little gold earning a treat from the bronzerider. R’nya was so good with her firelizards! He had so much patience and understanding for the little creatures and even the girls that often flocked around him and he always managed to maintain that regal air and dignity he had. It was somewhat alluring and likely why the shy girl had originally approached R’nya to take her virginity to help her continue Standing. His rejection had been soul-shattering and made for one very upset curly-haired girl but in the end, she supposed it worked out well. R’nd helped her on that front and she still had a wonderful friend in the bronzerider.
A bronzerider, her upward drifting gaze told her, that was making the strangest face. Rhaedalyn sat there in bewilderment, blinking three times at the sight before her before a small smile formed. “Your face will freeze like that if you’re not careful, Ren. I don’t think it’s used to holding such emotion.” A little giggle followed as she pointed out R’nya’s habit of keeping his expressions neutral and under control.
