While Kahleena was busy preparing food for the excursion, Rhaedalyn spent the time looking for her favourite hat. Mevrit had cleaned the entire living space again and, as always, nothing could be found. Her side of the room wasn’t that messy! She knew exactly – more or less – where everything was kept but when her good-intentioned roommate felt inclined to clean, it always left Rhaedalyn spending extra time hunting. No doubt Muffin and Rumour, her two blue firelizards, had moved it as well. Those two were a handful! They loved to play but thankfully her sweet golden Whisper liked to quietly point items when she was in the mood to side with the hand that fed them.
Eventually the floppy hat was found and Rhaedalyn tied her hair back low at the neck and slipped the hat on. They would be spending most of the time out in the forest but Rhaedalyn still didn’t like the hot summer sun beating down on her and liked the slight protection and shade the brim of her hat offered to her head, face, and neck. She had dashed off to the meeting spot soon after that with three excited firelizards circling about her as she went.
By the time Kahleena arrived, Rhaedalyn was sitting on the ground giving a belly rub to Whisper while the blues chased each other around. As always, a long flowing skirt was worn with a modest top but that never stopped her from sitting where she pleased. What did it matter if she wore pants or a dress if the ground was going to be the same either way? At the call of her name, Rhaedalyn looked up, smiling – which she quickly covered out of habit – and jumped to her feet. “Hey, Kally! Did you bring him?” Rhaedalyn bounced on her tip toes and looked around her friend a couple of times as if their tall and stoic bronzerider was actually hiding in the short goldrider’s shadow. “He promised he’d come,” a pout was given, which would only increase if R’nya didn’t come or even if he showed up late. The poor man had received more than his fair share of pouts but that never stopped the girl from giving more.
