Kahleena toppled out of bed with a squeal and landed on the floor in an ungainly heap, blinking up at the roof of her small hut with a startled expression. She hadn’t fallen out of a bed since she was a child! Outside, she could hear the soft rumbling laughter of Okalinath as the golden beast peered in through the window to look down at where her human was a crumpled mess of hair and blankets on the floor. Are you alright, love? The dragons soft voice was gentle as it brushed against her mind, and Kahleena struggled to sit up and flashed a smile toward the beast. “Yeah, I’m okay.” Piking herself up, Kahleena brushed down her nightgown and frowned at the blankets all over the floor. Sighing deeply, the girl picked them up and tossed them back onto her bed. She’d sort that out later!
The young woman dressed neatly, a long and flowing split skirt that allowed her to look properly feminine while also allowing her the ease of riding Okalinath should she opt to do so, a tidy and clean shirt buttoned up and a belt sash around her waist. While the rest of her was taken care of, the young woman’s hair was simply brushed out of her face and left to fly free and tangle, as it was wont to do, as she slipped on a pair of light shoes and skittered out the front door, snuggling Okalinath’s face in greeting and kissing her on the muzzle. Climbing on board, the pair made their way to greet their Weyrlingmaster, as they did every morning, so that he could look over Okalinath and make sure she was healthy and (as was Kahleena’s constant fear) not about to shoot into the sky like a golden beacon of glory. When they got the nod of approval, the pair made their way to breakfast, Okalinath dropping Kahleena off at the Hall while she herself went hunting.
Slipping through the Hall with her head bowed to avoid attention, Kahleena gathered up a breakfast, and a lunch, filling a large basket with sweet fruits and dried meats, bread and some meatrolls, flashing a timid smile at one of the cook’s assistants when they greeted her before fleeing the Hall entirely, basket in hand, as she ran in a flurry of skirts across the Weyr, completely without any of the dignity she was quite capable of retaining. Flushed and breathless, Kahleena stopped by R’nya’s hut, knocking on the door before singing out a soft, “you promised!” A flurry of soft giggle as Xyreith peered around a corner at her and the young woman left, dashing toward the edge of the Forests, the basket left beside the hut for R’nya to carry.
“Rhae!” Kahleena called, her voice hovering somewhere between quiet and excited as she tried not to call undue attention upon herself while attracting the attention of Rhaedalyn. “Morning!” Kahleena gushed breathlessly as she came to a stop beside the other girl, cheeks flushed and eyes bright.
