You made him very happy. B’jin murmured to Larrikith, fingers lightly dancing over her eyeridge as the green dragon lay her head once more across his lap. B’jin folded his arms over her face and leaned forward comfortably, resting his weight on the top of her head. Larrikith puffed out a sigh, eye closing in content. The truth doesn’t always have to hurt, love.
The enthusiasm the child expressed at the change to Impress was warming, and when push came to shove, it was that very attitude that B’jin enjoyed and often went out of his way to seek back before the Plague, when Searching was an honour and not a stain upon him of lives ruined. Searching was supposed to be a magnificent opportunity, not a horrible and traumatising event that Tsuen’s requirements had forced it to become. The greenrider’s expression was gentle, pleased and a light smile tugged his lips up into a warm smile. It really was wonderful to see someone so happy to hear what his dragon thought of him!
That, too, was a large reason why he and Larrikith so determinedly only Searched those they felt would Impress particularly well. Young men, and their fathers, were far more likely to allow a Search to be answered if the Searchee would become a bronzerider, or a brownrider! It was B’jin’s opinion that anyone could Impress a green or a blue; it didn’t take anything particular to attract their attention. That didn’t mean they weren’t special, they were, but Searching a brown or a bronze – and having them so Impress – was far more worthy in B’jin’s opinion than ‘another green’. Larrikith, of course, was the best her colour had to offer. But she was still a green.
B’jin, being holder raised, was more than a little opinionated and obnoxious on the rules and qualities of any given colour, and the lifestyle habits they tended to bring forth in someone. Something his dragon found more than a little hilarious, and a fun topic to poke at and tease when she was in the mood. Luckily for both B’jin and Bordtai, at that very moment she was far more asleep than not, and was not in the mood to taunt her rider.
“That is very true!” B’jin agreed, grinning brightly at the boy’s latching onto the young gold, and the future gold that would be appearing amoungst the future clutches. Soon, hopefully, the dragon population would be returning to what it had once been, and the dragonriders would be able to reclaim the proud rank that had once been theirs without question. For now, however, B’jin leaned forward eagerly, at teasing smile on his lips. “What do you think Krypth will clutch us this time?”
[Spoiler=OOC]The Solar Flare clutch hasn’t been laid yet; she flew the month prior to the start of this thread, and will clutch 2 months after it. :)
