I’ll be sleeping. Do not drink too much. The dragon’s words fell on mostly deaf ears. Ph’yn did not necessarily not hear the dragon. He understood Deshenoreth’s concerns when it came to drinking and how much Ph’yn tended to drink when he did. There was nothing worse than being at a Gather, watching happy people dance and feeling like all of it was taken from you. He needed the drink to numb the pain he still felt of the losses in his life. One would think he had lost his dragon at times because during events like this, Ph’yn tended to be about as cheerful as dirt. He would do what he always did. Being a Bronzerider meant he was expected to attend, well dressed and act with decorum. He would do his best to be all three of those things not because it was what the other people expected but because his dragon asked it of him. The only being in the world that mattered to him now was the Bronze beast who was part of his soul.
So after what seemed like weeks of enduring the happy and cheery nature of all the people of Katila throughout the day he finally took the time to get ready himself. He combed his graying blonde curls with a wet comb, made sure the bath he took earlier in the day still kept the smell of sweat off of him. His hands were clean, fingernails trimmed. He was the picture of a perfect dragonrider, wearing a well fitted chestnut brown shirt, khaki pants and his nicer pair of boots. He was prepared to face the party at least for a couple of candlemarks. What would a Katilan Gather be without paying his respects to Tsuen as well.
Before heading that way though, there was one place to visit first. So far the ale here was pretty rough so he was planning on starting with a nice red wine when he watched a youth almost choke down his wine. He almost laughed but held back. He hoped there was never a time he looked that dumb trying alcohol. Then again he knew there was a good chance he did. Shaking his head at the young man’s reaction he said, “Red is dryer than white but some people say wine is an acquired taste. In any case, I suggest starting with a white wine since its sweeter.Wine should not be thrown back like water or juice. You should sip it a little at a time, letting the flavor hit the roof of your mouth and breathe in the flavor. I prefer ale myself but seeing as you cannot even handle red wine yet, I don’t suggest trying the ale, especially not Katilan ale.”
Ph’yn took a glass of red wine and did as he had described. He sipped the wine, letting it rest in his mouth as he breathed in through his nose and then finally swallowed. Deep flavored, a little bitter but not bad. They must have someone working with the vintners who actually knew what they were doing. Maybe that meant there would be some improvement on the ales. "I'm Ph'yn rider of Bronze Deshenoreth. I don't believe we've met previously." He said as he took another sip of wine. He really had no recollection for some people. If they had no direct effect on his life he tended to forget people.
