Ulliendis raised a brow at the fuss being made over the sassy green Impressing to a girl. Weren’t Weyrs typically a bit more accepting of such things? Maybe the ones grumbling the most were formerly Holders; they always did have a strange sense of things. He supposed he was technically a Holder but he’d spent so much of his life in the Harper Hall that Ulliendis felt he was a different breed from the rest. Harpers seemed more willing to go with the flow and accept abnormalities than others after all. Oh! Maybe this was another one of those Weyr superstitions he was still learning about. Or maybe the girl wasn’t well-liked. He watched her walk off with her lifemate and wondered a bit more about who she was.
He missed the commotion of the blues bursting free as he pondered that girl but the reactions of those around him had Ulliendis looking back at the clutch to see the three little blues moving as a pack toward his general vicinity. He wasn’t sure what he was feeling in that moment. There was some hope and nerves at perhaps this being his moment but also some fear as it wasn’t every day three unbonded hatchlings galloped towards him.
He would never truly find out what it was like as they ended up going to a cluster of boys just to the side of him. Ulliendis gave a long sigh of relief, realising it was more fear than anything else driving him in that moment. He was still analysing how deep that fear went and if it was associated with Impressing that he didn’t really pay much attention to the walking egg. He gave a chuckle when he did spot it and tried to pay more attention to the events. What if another group came charging at him again and he didn’t notice in time?
He really wasn’t an early morning person and it was showing in that moment. Where was his focus and attention span?
