D’hys frowned when the rowdy brown Impressed to Corvilis. He didn’t like that match up at all. Corvilis was already treading on thin ice with some of his antics and now he had a dragon that seemed to have a temper. It wasn’t fair to judge any hatchling on their first few minutes free from their shell since most calmed with the bond and matured as they headed toward graduation but this pairing screamed trouble to him all the same. Brownriders were generally a nuisance to begin with and there was a reason they were still looked down upon since S’kef was knocked down from his pedestal. Again, it was hard to say that extended to the young riders as he thought about a couple from Aradissicath’s clutch last year but Corvilis would need a firm eye kept on him.
When Quinvalis Impressed a bit later on, D’hys nodded in approval. That kid would benefit greatly from bonding with a dragon. He didn’t interact with him too much but had seen him around enough to know he needed more of a spine and confidence. Perhaps the energetic blue would do that for him. A glance at R’nya showed the Weyrleader was happy with the Impression as well.
He was continuing to steal glances at the new lifemates and considering the matches of the kids he knew a bit about when the next eggs started cracking, drawing his attention back in time for more greens. Zeianth’s low laughter rumbled in his head before D’hys firmly connected what he was witnessing and softly chuckled himself with a shake of his head. Aederyn had nabbed herself a green. He knew she would be a good dragonrider and easily pictured her on a green or perhaps even a blue instead of a gold and it was always nice to be proven right.
Your games will have to come to a halt for a while and right when you were starting to play as well, Zeianth’s amusement was evident and D’hys gave a slight shrug. Not really. It just means the game is now stretched out with a few changes to the rules. You know how patient I can be. The new phase of the game would start when he went to congratulate Aederyn later on.
When the gold finally hatched, D’hys was only vaguely aware of who Zahrah was. Since he had looked into Aederyn a bit, he found out about her brother Alekse and heard from a couple of his informants in Benden that Alekse had something going on with a Candidate named Zahrah. When she arrived in Fort, D’hys had only sought her out for a visual to go along with the facts but never spoke to her.
He took a moment to go over the list of the twelve that had Impressed and while he didn’t know them all, what he did know made D’hys decide it would be an interesting group that would warrant some of his attention.
