Cazan turned to face her brother, giving him a small smile. She was glad that he'd decided to come and watch what she was sure was going to be a rather boring event. Getting him out and about would hopefully help him settle down a little and stop worrying about everything, especially Mal. "I'm not exactly sure. I guess this is supposed to give the baby dragons a chance to meet their future mates from the candidates before they hatch? I'm not actually sure since I've never touched one, Malvayth just found me." She lowered her voice as she quietly added, "I'm not sure how necessary it is though, since clearly they can pick someone who didn't touch their egg at all. Supposedly they can snoop around from the eggs and get an idea for a person first though. I'm not sure how that works or if they even remember it though."
She was so busy chatting with Cazelarias that she didn't notice the fight at first, not until there was that sickening sound and suddenly her precious gold was roaring and attacking candidates, her tail slamming into one and sending him flying one way before a claw threw another one the other way. The sudden wave of panic that hit her was bad enough, but the rage was so profound and foreign that it terrified her, which probably didn't help the situation at all. Cazan shouted as she ran to Malvayth, trying to maneuver her way to stand between the massive dragon and any other candidates as they scrambled to get out of the way.
The broken egg caught her eye and she choked back a soft sob as she tried to sooth the dragon. "Mal, Mal please, calm down. This... just stop." Her own fear was the only thing keeping her from giving into her dragon's desperate anger and despair. "Maybe it's fine... maybe, it's..."
Malvayth screeched, the sound turning into a long keening as she turned her attention to the broken egg that contained her baby, crushed and dead before it had ever had a chance to be born. She wasn't sure if it was Cazan's desperation or Aradissicath's stern command that she calm down that had her abandon her pursuit of the murderers, but she still had her grief and rage. The normally peaceful and bubbly gold whirled about, her keening turning to enraged roars and warning growls at anyone else who was even remotely close to the rest of her eggs that wasn't Cazan.
