For a moment she went very still as a smile broke over her face and she whirled, her head tilting a little as she looked him over. Oh, Faranth but he was a sight for sore eyes, wasn't he? She closed the space between them, her hands moving to cup his cheeks.
"Not if you're running my way, Runner Alekse," she murmured, pressing a kiss against his lips. "Come, have some water or klah even, and rest before Zarel gets a hold of you and I never see you again." The last was a definite joke because Zarel knew how much Alekse meant to her Mama.
It didn't mean the poor Runner wouldn't be assaulted with questions, though. Her cool fingertips brushed his cheeks for a moment more and then she was kissing him again, slowly, because she could, and her arms encircled his waist as she did so. That spark? It hadn't left, not even a little.
A bunch of kids were going OooOooOo at them but Zahrah paid them no mind. This wasn't for them, it was for her, for Alekse, and for the future.
"I missed you, my Runner," she murmured against his lips. "I missed you every day."
