Madiquel couldn’t remember being happier on a dancefloor; she wasn’t going to say it was her happiest moment ever because she was genuinely happy girl, and ranking all her happy moments would have ruined the current one. Because she was swept up in the fairy tale that she was sure Rhaedalyn had written just for her, about her, this moment. Everything! She was a glorious princess being swept around the dancing floor by a wanderlust rogue whom her Papa would not approve of! Madiquel giggled softly as she was swept into D’hys’ chest, joining him in applauding the Harper and trying not to feel too guilty about how grey the scene would make her poor Papa’s hair.
Goosebumps erupted across Madiquel’s skin from the point where D’hys’ warm breath brushed against her ear, and tingled down her spine. The butterflies in her belly got swept up in an apparent cyclone, and a blush flared into life across her nose and down the back of her neck. Nonetheless, Madiquel tilted her head slightly and turned a little, so she could flash a smile at D’hys – both relieved and disappointed his face was no longer right there – and gave a small nod of accent. “Yes,” she said, somewhat breathless, but that could easily be blamed on all the dancing they’d done, even if Madiquel knew otherwise. She was surprised she could remember how to breathe with D’hys so close. Which, of course, made her intimately aware of her breathing, and the way she could feel D’hys breathing against her back, since they hadn’t yet moved apart.
Madiquel’s blush deepened before she twirled about, spinning away just a little and dropping into a neat curtsy, her skirts flaring around her. Rising, she brushed her flyaway strands of hair off her face, and let D’hys take her hand once more, biting her lip for a moment before looking back at D’hys, having glanced towards the stage, and admitting on a cheerful breath that she had first heard the song during a weekend that Harpers had visited the Healer Hall. While she didn’t say anything further, it was clear that she couldn’t wait to go back to learning about Healing!
