What was he getting himself into? This was likely going to end in a disaster, especially if he took a misstep anywhere along the way but as long as Madiquel was happy than her parent figures should stay happy as well. with their arms linked, D'hys decided to just let his ego currently lead them to the dance floor, flattered that he was still attractive to all age groups. Truthfully, the task ranked on the easier side of things he had been asked to do over the years so he didn't have much room to complain, but he also knew he could have been doing so much more with his time.
He wasn't even a huge fan of dancing. He was decent at it but he typically didn't seek out the chance to let loose just because there was a harper band performing. Perhaps he was odd for thinking that after living in isolation for so long. He should have jumped at the chance to dance with music that wasn't from the handful of dragonrider and Stolen Harpers they had in Katila but he never felt the need. He could sit back and nurse a drink while listening and still find it enjoyable.
But there he was, on the square and mimicking the bow that the holders around him were doing to their partners as they took their ladies' hand. He knew enough moves to help make the moment special for Madiquel as he twirled her or picked her up at the waist to spin them halfway around and set her on her dainty feet again--though that move reminded him of that Candidate that liked to lift things up and put them down.
At the end of the song, he purposely spun her in tight so she would end up bumping her back into his chest and wrapped his arms around her shoulders to join in the applauding of the harpers. It seemed that was the man's last song for a bit and he had been enjoyable. As the next man came up on the stage and started talking with the others about what he wanted to sing, D'hys leaned down to whisper against Madiquel's ear. "I feel it would be rude if we left before hearing a bit from the new Harper. Would you join me for a couple more songs?"
He had only been told to dance with Madiquel, not told how many songs that entailed. But D'hys assumed one song would be a bit rude to cut and run after and his ego was still driving and insisted a little more interaction would leave the girl wanting more and definitely create more fantasies for her.
