Madiquel blushed deeply, but smiled brilliantly at Rhaedalyn’s compliment, biting her bottom lip before giving the woman another quick hug in thanks, not sure how else to articulate what the compliment meant. When her hand was taken, and she was led off the main path, Madiquel squeeze Rhaedalyn’s fingers gently. She’d missed her friend so much! While the young greenrider was akin to a daughter to Rhaedalyn, the goldrider was hovering the realm of mother for Madiquel; she loved Rhaedalyn dearly, more than she could say, and she hadn’t realised how much she missed her friend and mentor before seeing her in person once again. It wasn’t even that they hadn’t seen each other in such a long time. It felt like an eternity, but surely it hadn’t been that long since Rhaedalyn last visited Ista?
Not lingering on that, Madiquel smiled as R’nya glanced at them fondly, before wandering off. No doubt he’d spend his alone time buying gifts for his beautiful mate and their daughters. Madiquel certainly hoped he was, anyway, though she knew history said he was. “I’ve missed you!” Madiquel said with honest fever, beaming up at Rhaedalyn once again, but she nodded. “It is very good to be off the Island,” she laughed. This was their first long distance trip between and she hadn’t left Zezeth’s side since Impressing her pretty green reed. She’d been a bit worried about leaving her Papa for the few days she would be in Benden, and had sent Clover back to the Weyr as fast as possible so the green flit could deliver the ‘arrived safely!’ message she’d decided to send her Papa, just to reassure him that they were both fine. Clover would do periodic checks on the man over the next few days, probably to the point where it would drive him a bit (more) nutty!
“Shopping,” Madiquel laughed, “and dancing!” She lifted the hand she had linked with Rhaedalyn’s so she could twirl around, the skirts flaring a little around her legs and Madiquel dropped into a neat curtsy when she was facing Rhaedalyn once more, giggling. “I’m going to track Quin down tomorrow, and he’s going to officially meet Zezeth!” She was pretty excited about that, and she was looking forward to seeing her friend again! Especially after the horror she’d heard about happening at his last Standing. Her smile faltered for a moment, guilt and regret flashing across her eyes, before she pushed the emotions aside and smiled again. “And I want to cross paths with Vaera at some point, too!” Gosh, having a dragon that wasn’t allowed to travel was so inconvenient, but the future would be theirs and Madiquel was looking forward to graduating and being allowed to travel with her dragon anywhere they wanted (within reason, of course!) to see whomever they wanted, when they wanted. It would be amazing!
And of course – “And TayTay should be around somewhere. Zee is with Xy,” She twisted a little, glancing around like she thought her friend might appear out of the milling people; it wasn’t an impossibility, but he was taller than most people, especially the gaggles of ladies that were milling around. She didn’t see him, though, and turned her attention back to Rhaedalyn with a radiant smile. “Otherwise, no plans,” she laughed. “What are you up to? You lost your escort,’ she giggled, nodding in the direction R’nya had long since vanished into.
