I still can’t believe Parella is dead. Re is practically inconsolable with all the chaos and tragedy around the Weyrs, and he’s become fiercely protective of me and of J’shom, especially after what happened to B’jin. He hasn’t been this suspicious of everyone since weyrlinghood, but instead of timid and shy he’s become snappish. Naturally that upsets Sio, who sees it just as more confirmation that all males--and especially blues--are awful. Needless to say, things are tense around here.
We weren’t allowed to try going back to Ista yet, since the healers are still too busy with everything else going on to babysit a crippled attempt to get high enough to go between without further injuries. I don’t know who’s more frustrated--me, or Erebuth. He’s starting to talk about learning to climb the face of the Bowl to prove he can--and I can’t quite blame him. It’s maddening to be grounded like this.
Still, I’ve been able to visit with R’dal, and with M’quel and Zezeth here it’s almost like home. An awful version of home where nothing makes sense anymore.
