Hatchings always took forever. Hours they could last and this one was no different. Exciting things were happening though, an earthquake and babies betweening. He hated when the dragonets betweened, the keening of the dragons always brought tears to his eyes. It was ridiculously sad and he cleared his throat around the lump that was there. One of the candidates he didn't know well went down beneath a blue and the second gold hatched to impress.. A boy? No, that wasn't right and Dandioar winced at the sudden onslaught of the little gold's voice. The boy was actually a girl and he shrugged. Who was he to judge anyone by what they wore?
Another blue and another green, they were expected. More greens than anything else, he was nodding in approval as they both found their boys. He did chuckle at that decisive nod the blue gave before impressing his boy. Sometimes hatchings were extremely amusing, especially when the dragonets were silly creatures. Suddenly a brown appeared, sitting still and calm in the bottom of his egg and four more greens. One of the greens had come from an egg he'd touched and Dandi was amused that two out of the three had been greens.
He covered his mouth as he laughed when the greens started darting around. They were silly things, but he'd found that the blues and the greens always were at a hatching. The brown had remained where he was and Dandi could feel the curiosity that everyone had. What would happen there? he wondered to himself. The laugh he was containing slipped out when one of the greens slid to a stop for abruptly that she fell on her rear end.
That was funny wasn't it D'io? the little brown looked at him with the twists and turns of impression sliding through Dandioar's - no D'io now - mind. Didn't you think it was funny? the brown chortled as he waited ever so patiently for the boy that was his. D'io's feet moved before he could tell them and he made his way to the chubby little brown. It would appear that all of the babies were fat little beasts and D'io chuckled.
"It was quite funny," he admitted as he came to a stop beside the brown and motioned for him to follow the man to the food buckets. "Are you hungry?" D'io asked as the dragonet started walking beside him.
You know... I think I am
