It wasn’t the humming that woke him up but the obnoxious dragon in his head that wouldn’t stop pestering him about eggs and a girl that needed to get moving. Slowly R’dare woke, eyes struggling to stay open even as he spotted a frantic Katiryn beside him. “Huh? Ow!” The smack to his arm really wasn’t that hard but it was enough to jolt him further into a wakeful state and he sat up as she rushed around getting dressed.
Aradissicath says the eggs are ready early. You need to get moving yourself if you want to watch it. Kadaisicalth grumbled, none too pleased either at being up early but his voice still joined in with the others as they hummed the announcement for all to hear.
R’dare gave something that resembled a wave when Katiryn kissed his cheek and vanished and then he sighed as he curled back under the blanket. It was too early and he hadn’t had enough sleep yet so maybe a little more wouldn’t hurt anyone? The growl of annoyance proved him wrong and R’dare finally got up and found some fresh clothes to put on.
Kadaisicalth dropped him off at the dining cavern before heading to the Sands himself and R’dare practically sleep-walked his way in to find something to eat. Or, more importantly he just wanted klah. Luckily, the kitchen staff had already been up and prepping breakfast so some odds and ends were out for any hungry people heading to the Hatching and a big pot of klah was ready to go. He thankfully chugged back the drink, debated another, decided against it, and then headed out again feeling a bit more alive.
He slipped in and up the stands to an area he always liked to sit in regardless of Weyr. It was about halfway up, allowing a good view of everything but not getting too close to be in the way of the ‘important’ visitors that wanted to be up close and personal. After some of the Hatchings, he was surprised anyone would want to be in the first few rows.
As usual, he held the spots around him for R’dal and a girl he had said he wanted to bring if he could find her. That whole sentence didn’t make any sense and he was the one that thought it. He’d figure it out later and instead focused on smiling and waving to various friends that were Standing and giving them encouragement with thumbs up. The fact that his sister was Standing again also made him extra proud and a bit worried, as each one did that she attended. She had been on the Sands for both of the killing sprees and she had been standing beside the one in Ista that… he didn’t want to think about that poor girl right then, not when Dareji was amongst the hungry babies again.
When Dareji looked his way, R’dare stood up and made a big heart with his hands over his head. When she laughed, and no doubt rolled her eyes, R’dare felt his big brother duties were going well that morning and sat back down. He’d embarrass her again in a bit but let her think he was done.
