Dareji didn't know what to think as she prepared for the Hatching. It was too early! Was that a good sign? Was everything okay? Were they just as excited as the Candidates so they had to come out early? She hoped it was that last idea and she latched onto it while pulling back her hair and tying it tightly. Even with her mixed review of the Touching, Dareji herself was excited to see the babies. Hatchings were wonderful things and her heart always wanted to burst with happiness when she saw pairs bond and move away together. Of course her heart also shattered at times with some of the Hatchings she had been to but she refused to think about it that day. This was a new day, new clutch, new everything!
She ate her muffin while sipping at some klah, hanging back a moment to do so. She wasn't the biggest fan of the drink but a little boost would be good to have. It also liked to run right through her but a half cup would be fine.
But as she entered the grounds, Dareji realised she wasn't ready. Well, she was. She really did want a dragon of her and to prove she could and would be an amazing rider like her dad and brother--but that was part of the problem. Her dad and brother were both such wonderful people and had amazing blue dragons and what if she didn't Impress a blue or didn't get one as sweet as theirs? Worse, she didn't Impress at all and had to wait for the next one to go through it all again. Both men had Impressed younger than she was now, which she knew the odds were geared towards men but it was still starting to make her feel unworthy.
She wouldn't give up, though. She had her dream and she was going to see it happen. It just likely wasn't going to be on her timeline but she'd work with that.
Dareji waved as a friend greeted her and laughed when she saw R'dal waving enthusiastically at various Candidates. She knew he had Searched a few but he was so friendly that he probably knew everyone Standing that day. She adored that boy.
