T'ryn was currently at his desk making a list of reasons why he most certainly should not be Ista's new Weyrleader. he hadn't been approached about it but with Casa getting a promotion and word going around that she would help pick the Weyrleader, T'ryn was not taking any chances. He didn't want the job no matter how much his dragon did since he knew he wasn't a leader, at least not in that large of position. Wingleader. That's all he wanted.
But he couldn't help feeling like he brought this down upon himself. Sneaking into M'ris' office and having sex with Casa while jokingly calling each other Weyrleader and Weyrwoman while all the actual leaders were having a meeting to promote Casa to Weyrwoman... karma was a bitch. He just kept hoping he'd be overlooked thanks to there being a lot more older and more experienced bronzeriders for the task than one of Casa's classmates. Still, he wasn't risking it, again because karma was a bitch and why was his life like this?
He was on point number five when Syrendryth broke through his concentration and the wave of urgency hit him before any words.Zezeth is injured and they need us to get the Masterhealer right away. Her rider won't let anyone else help. T'ryn dropped shoved away from his desk, standing so quickly that he knocked over the chair and almost tripped on it as he rushed to gear up Sydrendryth. He wouldn't have bothered if he was making a trip alone but bringing back a passenger meant he needed more security and put all the training of the past in emergency gearing up to use.
Minutes later and the pair was off and landing by the Hall. T'ryn ran inside and for all his times visiting Madiquel or picking up Vaera, he still didn't know his way entirely around the Hall and certainly didn't know where Verec's office was or if he would even be in there. So he had to stop and ask for directions--which didn't work well. The first person scowled and walked by without a word leaving T'ryn wondering why it was so hard to at least say 'sorry, can't help you'. So he wandered a bit more and found two men talking and he approached them.
"Excuse me? Sorry to interrupt, but we've had an accident at Ista Weyr involving a dragon and I've been sent for Master Verec to help." One man gave him another look of distaste and rudely pointed out the Masterhealer was too busy to deal with dragons while the other told him to try a room down the hall where he thought he saw Verec earlier. T'ryn thanked them both--because he had manners, damn it--and took off down the hall... and found an empty room.
I could start bellowing. I'm sure that will attract enough attention and get the man out here. Syrendryth offered oh-so helpfully and T'ryn sighed again as he wandered back to the main area. Please don't. I don't want to explain your hissy fit and then never be able to show my face here again.
He was explaining the emergency to someone else when a familiar face was spotted coming around the corner and T'ryn knew she would help. "Sorry, thanks for the help," he told the man that hadn't been too helpful before calling out to Vaera.
"Vaera! Zezeth is injured and Madiquel will only let Master Verec help. Please find him and bring him out to the usual spot?" The amount of relief he felt when she agreed and took off to find Verec was impressive. But he didn't give himself long to enjoy it as he ran back to his dragon and took that time to double check the straps before his passenger arrived.
Which actually ended up being two passengers because Vaera refused to stay behind. T'ryn couldn't blame her and promised Verec that Syrendryth could handle carrying all three of them and quickly got them all into position so he could finally finish his task.
As they landed in the Bowl near the small crowd, T'ryn knew what reason six would be on his list--no one took him seriously or listened to him. Vaera did, though, and he tried again as he lightly touched her arm and shook his head. "We should stay back for now and give Master Verec the space he needs. We can check on Madiquel soon."
