Contrary to popular belief, C'dhin did not spend all day every day baking. He did bake a lot but he did take some days off to do other things like hang out with his daughter, visit friends, or just get away from it all with Coroth, finding a quiet spot with a good view and breeze. However, since the Hatching at Ista three days earlier, all C'dhin had done was bake. ...and sample a lot of his baking.
He was stressed and baking was comforting to him so he kept doing it in order to get rid of the stress but it wasn't working because he'd start thinking about those poor little dragonets and the poor young people bonded to them and he then baked more and ate more, which led to more baking so he could share with more people... it was a nasty never-ending circle.
It really didn't help that he wasn't allowed to visit Misharan. He had tried soon after the Hatching ended but had been told that they couldn't have visitors for a few days while they worked to keep the dragonets alive. What the actual fuck? Don't tell people that! Someone had to work on their bedside manners! What if he had been a relative or mate of one of those newly Impressed weyrlings and already had such fears and then a Healer or dragonrider confirmed he had reason to fear for their life or sanity? People sometimes sucked.
He was taking them at their word, however, that they would both keep the dragonets alive and he could visit in a few days. Three was a few, and so C'dhin had packed up case after case of cookies and a special case of cupcakes he made in Misharan's favourite flavour--well, one of them. That man was both wonderful for the baker's ego but horrible for pinpointing what was the top of the list. C'dhin felt he managed in getting the flavour right within the top three, if nothing else.
Do you think I will get to see the little ones? Coroth had been in an odd state since the Hatching as well. She didn't like the death or how the survivors looked and she liked Misharan as much as C'dhin did and worried. She was a bit more subdued than usual and C'dhin missed the constant teasing and found that had added to his stress.
"I hope so, my love. It'll do you good to see them and I bet they'd like to see more people and dragons as well," C'dhin patted her side affectionately as he finished tying up the saddle bags full of his goodies. "What do you think Misha's honorific is?" He asked while climbing up to the seat and strapping in.
I hope it's M'ra. It sounds like a roar to scare someone with and I bet it would start to annoy him when people did start saying it that way, Coroth chuckled a little and C'dhin smiled, glad some of her sass was coming back. They both really did need this visit.
"Let's go find out."
When they arrived, they were given directions to where they could find the weyrlings. Apparently they had been given an old large weyr no one had moved into so they had enough space for everyone coming and going but still have some privacy. Coroth landed on the ledge and became a bit antsy as C'dhin freed himself and sacks of goods. She sensed the depression that still hung around the small group and C'dhin did his best to reassure her it was fine. Surely they would have heard otherwise if something had happened. "Be good and I'll see if Misharan and the little guy can come out to visit you."
C'dhin greeted the Assistant that was milling about and offered the man one of the cases of cookies to keep for himself and then produced four more for the Healers and other assistants to have, and one each for Madiquel and Beckitt. He wasn't sure if they'd all be up for a visit--and apparently weren't even awake at the moment--so he left the treats for them to receive later.
He was shown to Misharan's room and C'dhin took a deep breath and peeked in. He smiled when he saw his friend wasn't asleep but it looked like he wished he was. Setting down the bag of the remaining treats, C'dhin stepped inside and shut the door behind him. It wasn't really done to give them privacy since intimacy was off the table for a while but it made C'dhin relax a bit by not having so many official people right outside.
"I heard a sexy bluerider was staying here. Did I find the right room?"
