Sariel had been gently urging the little one on. He was a blue, she thought after a moment of consideration. It didn't matter that he was sickly. That's what healers were for, his new lifemate as well more than anything. Surely he'd be nursed to health with careful attention. He'd a fierceness about him in the eyes and when he Impressed, she cried with joy for him. Look at him and his will to survive! She was so proud of him for overcoming everything from his egg to finding his mate.
"Well done," she murmured, her eyes sparkling with unshed tears. "And hard-won." He'd fought for it, the little blue and once he'd his lifemate, they'd started to get him fed. It eased the pang in her heart just a little -- the one that had begun when the green collapsed and died there on the Sands. She smoothed her hands along her robe all fret and hope but nowhere to direct it save at the eggs that had yet to hatch.
Live, she whispered to them in her mind. Live and thrive despite everything. You can hatch, you can Impress! Please, little ones. She directed her mind at them as if they could hear her mental pleas. If anything, it was emotion that dominated: Faith, hope, a wish to do something, anything to carry the rest of the dragonets through. Maybe it would help, like a glow in the dark. She rocked a little on the Sands, still humming, still humming with all the hope and positivity she could muster.
If her humming was the only thing heard on the sands beside the mewling of the Impressed blue, she was alright with it.
