Hello loves! While I haven't been writing, I have been working on updating some issues that have been hanging around on the layout! The Character change box is now at the bottom of the page, beside the up/down arrows! Green and Gold dragon flight dates have been shifted to the bottom of the page, where the (useless!) discord widget was located. Where the dragon flights were in the header, is now replaced by a Monthly Event box! This will be updated at the start of each month, with a fun mini-event you can take part in, if you want to! V'ler didn't want to go to the Hatching; yet he did want to go.
He hated travelling between despite it being eight years since his classmate had died during their first class learning it. It freaked him out and made him uncomfortable so he did it as little as possible, making him a bit of a homebody in the process. Still, he did go visit his daughters and Rhaedalyn about once a month and attended all Hatchings because he didn't trust other Harpers to record things properly.
But this Hatching sounded cursed from what he heard about the Touching and he already saw enough blood and gore at normal Hatchings which always left him queasy. Yet it intrigued him since he couldn't find any mentions of a blue winning a gold in the past. It didn't mean that it never had happened, maybe they lost records or it was purposely kept out of the records. It was his curiosity to see a clutch sired by a blue that was the driving factor in getting him to go.
Thankfully Indivara had her class she had to stay with, giving her a solid excuse not to go. They both knew she wasn't a fan of them anymore after her own mauling and the memories that came back whenever something horrible happened. V'ler knew he'd still have to tell her all about it when he returned, and he would without sugar-coating it, since she deserved honesty and he didn't want Indivara finding out details he left out through comments made at dinner.
I don't like it here. It's... sad... Veeth's voice was so tiny and soft, V'ler's heart hurt to hear it. His dragon was always happy and this wasn't him. He was actually prepared to deal with squealing at them getting to see babies and meeting the blue that won a gold; he didn't know how to handle a subdued Veeth. He wrapped his dragon up in his love, promising it was okay and everyone was just confused and nervous about what would come from the eggs since it was new to everyone.
That cheered Veeth up enough that he joined in the humming but he didn't go off to meet Faxxonth, thinking it best to wait until after the Hatching. He was probably focused on his clutch and didn't need distractions in the form of question after question. V'ler personally didn't think that was the case when he spotted a blue dragon matching the description he had heard was Faxxonth and saw the way the dragon seemed to do his best to shrink in on himself. He could only imagine the crap rider and dragon had been getting since the Flight and was glad Veeth always gave up on competing against the large bronzes after a while.
V'ler parted ways with his dragon so he could claim his usual spot when reporting on Hatchings in Ista. It had a great view of the clutch and he was close enough to where they would lead their dragonets off to feed that he could grab names as well.
