"Stay," he told the bronze as Tigger tried valiantly to join him. The little firelizard had no desire to do that and Dandi knew that Thallyath did not want the firelizards on the sands while her eggs were there. It was polite and respectful to leave Tigger here when the current gold didn't like him. He shifted and grabbed what he needed, slipping the robes on and the thick leather sandals. Out the door he went, Tigger scattering his indignation at being left behind. Dandi would have a mess to clean up when he got back from the hatching.
It was odd that the entire weyr was not humming and Dandior frowned as he entered the sands. He had opted not to touch the eggs when it was offered and he'd heard the stories. Heard what the others had dealt when they had. It made him glad he'd changed his mind about touching them. He'd stand for them - what candidate wouldn't? - but Dandior wasn't sure if he truly wanted to impress a hatchling from this clutch. What if they were cursed? He'd never heard of a blue catching a gold before and that couldn't be good. The entire clutch was probably going to be horrific little monsters.
He settled into the circle of candidates as they waited for the first cracking of the eggs.
