When the bellow--not humming--announced the Hatching was beginning, R'vi was torn. The fact that Thallyath wasn't humming was already reason enough not to go. If the gold wasn't into the idea of people being there or caring if the eggs hatched or not, why should he go? It still somewhat angered him that a blue had won and had managed to sire a clutch as well. Blues weren't meant to do that! It wasn't their place in the grand scheme of things and some weyrling decided to upset the balance. He knew his fierce stance on the topic surprised everyone that knew anything about him. He was shallow, not the smartest--that was clearly N'vian--and just the chill party dude that didn't let anything bother him. But this bothered him.
The clutch was suffering from the union as well. It was small, Thallyath was angry and bitter, Casa was stressed, the eggs seemed to be full of rage and despair...nothing was good about this. He had a bad feeling about the Hatching and didn't want to witness it. But he wouldn't be a good friend to the friends expecting to see him and even the Candidates that he chatted with or introduced to all the joys of sex would be disappointed if he wasn't there.
But he didn't want to show support to a bluerider that didn't know her...his...place. He didn't know anything about Nerreh, not even gender apparently given what Casa was saying after the Flight. Nerreh was a Katila brat but R'vi was about ten years older than most of them so he was in a different circle and having different sort of parties to what they were having back then. He only knew that Faxxonth overreached his place and they were all going to suffer for it. Not even blueriders, everyone. This Hatching was doomed though he really hoped it wasn't and he was just being negative for no reason.
"What do I do, Vy?" R'vi finally asked for his dragon's input from where he was sprawled on his bed, head hanging over the foot of the bed.
Go to the Hatching. It's not about supporting the blue in this moment since that would have been done after the Flight and you have been vocal about being against it. This is about supporting your friends that are Standing and even Casa, though you two don't really do much talking when you're together.
"I don't do much talking with anyone when I'm with them, Vy," R'vi snorted, knowing perfectly well that he was more just a fuck boy than someone that one wanted to spend an evening conversing with. "But you're right. Let's go."
He purposely didn't look at the Candidates or eggs when they entered but when R'vi claimed his seat, he scanned the area and frowned at the small number actively Standing by the eggs. He knew them all in one way or another and nodded or smiled in greeting any time he caught someone's eye but the bad feeling was settling into his gut again. Casa and Thallyath looked like they were waiting at someone's death bed as well and that didn't help matters.
