Beckitt headed toward the stalls for some shopping, whistling a fragment of the new tune he’d heard at the dance square, trying to memorize it. He still had a few marks left, and had toyed with the idea of getting some new trim to add to his shirt collars. He spotted Nerreh over by a stall selling leather goods and headed over.
“Heya, Nerreh,” he chirped, so they wouldn’t startle at his approach. “Looking for yourself or… something for Casa?” he grinned. “I doubt she wants a new belt, but that one would be good for you,” Kitt gestured to one with minimal frills but skillful tooling in geometric patterns.
As they moved away from the stall he slipped an arm through Nerreh’s. “How have you been? I think everything is finally maybe starting to settle down again after all the drama. Well,” his face twisted, “settle down isn’t quite right. Move past, maybe.”
