Appearance

Eyes: Dark brown, trusting, and frequently lit up with laughter.

Hair: Brunette and wavy when long, worn loose around his face. The bangs tend to flop into his eyes and he swears he’ll cut it all off when he Impresses or the next time he’s hungover.

Height: 5’11”

General Appearance:
His face has just finally begun to lose its roundness, starting to lengthen. His features are still soft though, from his trusting brown eyes to his dimpling smile. He won’t ever have cheekbones you can cut yourself on, but that sounds too aloof and mean for him anyway.

He got out of shape during the year he returned to the north due to illness, but he’s back to exercise- he prefers swimming, but will run if there are no other options. He has a birthmark on his shoulder- a strawberry mark. He doesn’t like it, but he doesn’t make a fuss over it either.


Dressing Style: Beckitt dresses stylishly when he can get away with it, even if it’s just incorporating a bit of embroidery on the cuffs and collars of his everyday shirts. He loves excuses to wear fancier clothes, but they are few and far between. He is a tidy person, and it carries over to his appearance.

Personality

General Character Traits: Beckitt tries hard to be helpful and friendly to as many as he can. But his naivete can be a problem sometimes and his rushing to defend his friends in squabbles doesn’t always end well.

He learned the value of hard work in Katilia and he desperately wants to Impress in order to impress his father and share that joy with his friends. He’s a diligent student, though he wishes he could move out of Candidate classes and into Weyrling classes. Even the repeated times standing on burning sands and being passed over haven’t killed that dream.

Habits/Mannerisms: He has a habit of arching his eyebrows in an unwitting mimic of his father. He also is constantly humming or singing while working.

Opinions: These can be kept short and sweet; a sentence will suffice.
Threadfall Theory: Why are more people not concerned about this? The low numbers of the dragon riders concern him even more though.
Stealing/Kidnapping: Wary at first, except around the Harpers, he didn’t quite understand what had happened. He was upset when he found out they had been stolen from friends and family, but they did need the additional riders. He hopes they’ll eventually be forgiven. [
span class="ProfilePrompt2"]Weryrleader S'kef:[/span] He wouldn’t have minded a brownrider in charge, but he never cared for S’kef. Everything about the man rubs him the wrong way, and Beckitt avoids him like an infectious disease. Besides, while rank is important, so is inspiring your people.
Firelizards: Beckitt was terrified at first, having grown up on stories of how they spread the fearful Plague. But now that several of his friends have Impressed them he is slowly beginning to come around. And the convenience for sending messages can’t be beat.
Women's loss of honourifics: 04.06.733 - at the World Above graduation, While thrilled at the idea of being a ‘real’ rider right from Impression, he was horrified at S’kef’s revoking female blue and green rider’s rights to the honorifics. They would be fighting just like the men, and should be honored the same way.
Return North: Beckitt was anxious about the return north and leaving the only home he’d known. But the riders had a duty to Pern and they need to be ready for when Thread falls again, and the best place to prepare is north. Otherwise the people will never get used to having them around again.

Background Story:
721 & 1 turns: Beckitt is born and turned over to the creche. His father shows little interest, which is almost understandable given the tragedy of his half siblings’ deaths. Its continuation is hardly surprising.
730 & 9 turns: Journeymen are stolen from the North. Beckitt doesn’t like the sudden influx of strangers, but he is fascinated by the Harpers and the new songs they have. He spends as much time with them as they’ll allow, soaking music up like a sponge.
734 & 13 turns: Several of his friends and his mother are lost in the landslide which struck this Turn. He is depressed for months during the rebuild. It’s the lowest anyone has ever seen him, and he hardly sings.
735 & 14 turns: The move to Telgar is fascinating and terrifying. It’s freezing by comparison to Katilia, and he spends most of the turn sick, missing his first chances at Standing.
736 & 15 turns: He moves to Ista where the climate is more what he’s used to. He’s much happier again and gets his strength back, and he’s thrilled Mylorah and a couple other friends moved there too so he’s not on his own.
739 & 18 turns: As more and more of his friends Impress or move to other Weyrs he begins to wonder if he will ever impress. He still puts on an optimistic front, but his closest friends can see right through it.

Beckitt sprinted down the hall after class, desperate for the open air after the stuffy rock. He dodged several adults and called apologies over his shoulder, sure it would get him in trouble later, but willing to deal with it for now. Skidding around a corner he caught sight of the fading winter light and grinned. Just enough light for a climb, he thought. Even better than a run!

Kitt adjusted his bag and began to climb up the wall of the weyrbowl, cheerily ignoring shouts and chastising calls. He made it to his favorite ledge and spread out his homework and an apple he’d filched from the kitchen, humming as he began to work in the light breeze.
