"Then don't," B'jin said gently, turning his head to gaze at Talian with mild amusement. He watched the emotions wash over Talian's face, warping his expression, mostly through a negative array that B'jin was unhappy to realise was still featuring far too predominately on the young face. The smiles were far too rare, unfortunately, and the greenrider wasn't really sure how to enhance their popularity with the boy.
"We remember some odd things," B'jin smiled softly, giving Talian a gentle squeeze as he pondered over what Talian had offered him. A slight frown tugged his eyebrows down over his eyes and he gave Talian a curious look, one of them reaching upward once more and brown eyes bright with amusement. "Numbers were never my strong suit," he said brightly, winking. B'jin had a far better grasp of literal music and his own voice than he did on numbers. Writing he had a good grasp off namely because of all the turns he had been forced to undergo it, rather than a natural born talent for words.
"I can't write lyrics." That was said with a grudgingly dry humour, and B'jin gave Talian a sly look from under his lashes. "But they tend to ruin good music anyhow." That was said far more lightly, but with a wrapped spine of iron, clearly indicating the man's solid opinion that that was true. B'jin's most obvious talent was his voice, and he greatly enjoyed singing; it didn't stop his firm dislike of lyrics, however, despite all the shit he had copped from his Masters throughout his education.
