Vessaelia was doing her best to stop or hide her yawning. It was getting far too late for her and to stand around the entire time in the hot Sands area was not helping her case. She could barely muster up the energy to continue smiling or cheering when a new pair walked by on their way to feeding and bathing. But when the gold dragonet finally made her appearance, Vessaelia found herself rejuvenated as if she just had eight hours of sleep.
Too bad it felt like a nightmare.
Vessaelia gave a panicked shriek when the first girl was trampled and decided she didn’t want this gold for her own. She only wanted to get away from the little terror and turned to do just that when suddenly someone was knocking her to the ground. She had a mouth full of sand and was pinned down by the girl that didn’t seem to get the idea that this wasn’t the best place to huddle together. “Get off me! We have to run!” She tried squirming free when she realised maybe the girl had been injured with maybe a broken leg and couldn’t move. She didn’t hear any sobbing though, and that worried her more. Her instinct to flee was being challenged by that of the one to stay and help.
Determined, Vessaelia finally managed to wriggle out enough that she could twist to see the girl on her lower half. There was a lot of blood. Too much blood. But her brain didn’t process that as she reached out to shake the girl on the shoulder, hoping to get her attention or wake her up if she was in shock. When that didn’t work, she shook a little harder, asking if she was okay as she did so, and then froze in her own shock as the girl’s head lolled to the side revealing the gaping wound and vacant death stare.
Then she screamed.
And didn’t stop.
