Jalazmar’s reassurance that he’d write to his brother or his cousin (she forgot he was related to a dragonrider!) had Xyliah’s eyes opening wide; he was not only okay with her being upset, but was offering a way out? She didn’t know how to process that, and looked up at him in surprise, though affection and adoration shone brightly on her face when she saw he clearly meant what he was saying. Leaning up suddenly, Xyliah pressed a lingering kiss to his lips, breaking it in time to hear his suggestion about finding a Healer. She shook her head rapidly.
“No healers,” she said softly, frowning at him. “My parents…” She couldn’t imagine what her parents would do if they found out she’d terminated a pregnancy… Disown her seemed the most likely, and she couldn’t bring such shame upon Jalazmar. With the exception of Gabrin, she liked his family and she couldn’t bare the thought of them being disgusted with her or forcing him to null their marriage and marry someone more suitable – someone who would proudly give him a son. She might not be in love with him, but the idea of losing him was no less terrifying as a result, and she didn’t dislike the idea of having his children. She just didn’t want them now.
Xyliah blinked when Sunshine stalked off and Jalazmar was suddenly looking at her with that expression – the one that made her blood run with lusty fire – and she shifted slightly, feeling the warmth in her stomach radiate outwards. “You mean it?” She asked, eyes wide. The prospect of being able to control when she got pregnant was far more than she’d ever dreamed of, and when he leaned down to kiss her, Xyliah threw herself into the action with gusto, lifting her legs to wrap them around his waist, pulling him down flush against her.
When the kiss broke, Xyliah stared at Jalazmar for a few moments in cautious wonder, freeing one hand from his hair to touch his face gently. “You are really okay with all of that?” She asked softly, somewhat timid. “You’re not just saying it?” She didn’t want him to say he was okay with it, or offer her such means, if he didn’t mean it. If he was going to get angry with her in five months’ time for not being pregnant or for terminating or… well, for any of it. She needed him to actually be okay with it.
