The shine in T’bia’s eyes was nearly too much for M’dox; his friend looked so happy because of him, and M’dox couldn’t help but be emotional about it. No one had ever looked at him like T’bia was looking at him before. Like he had just given them something special. He liked it, the warmth in his chest at T’bia’s smile, the way his heart swooped as if he’d just ridden a dragon through a dive from high up when T’bia leaned in, the soft air on his face from where he could feel T’bia’s breaths when he paused barely any distance at all between them. M’dox could feel his heart pounding in his throat, his ears, as he waited for T’bia.
And then T’bia was kissing him and all coherent thought left M’dox, just letting himself be drawn into the kiss, letting himself experience it without thoughts crowding it out and getting in the way.
Jycenth’s voice didn’t surprise M’dox as much as it usually did when the blue spoke to him. In some ways it felt like part of the experience of the kiss, of getting closer to T’bia; of course his friend’s dragon would be there! Jycenth’s message did explain why the kiss seemed to have stalled; M’dox had been content to let T’bia take the lead, but if T’bia had never kissed anyone before that plan might not work as well. He flushed at the idea that T’bia had chosen him to have his first kiss with, and found he was giddily happy about it. That meant T’bia had to like him a lot, didn’t it?
M’dox reached forward, placing one hand at the back of T’bia’s head, pulling him closer, and the other right under T’bia’s shoulder where he could help T’bia balance if he started toppling forward. He put a little more pressure into kissing back, curling his fingers in T’bia’s shirt and breathing him in. They stayed like that a few moments, before M’dox gently broke the kiss, moving his mouth back barely a fraction of an inch. He didn’t want T’bia’s first kiss to be too overwhelming; his own first kiss, the girl had started with too much tongue, too enthusiastically, and a bit too fast and M’dox had gotten overwhelmed. He didn’t want to do that to T’bia. M’dox gently bumped their noses together and smiled, reassuring T’bia he wasn’t going anywhere, before leaning back in and softly pressing their lips together again, parting his lips just a little and moving against T’bia’s mouth a little more than the simple press of before, though still gentle. M’dox paid close attention to T’bia’s reactions, adjusting the kiss to allow him as much control as he wanted to take.
