When T’bia leaned forward to try the offered pastry, M’dox forgot how to breath. T’bia’s hands were warm against his knee, and M’dox was acutely aware of every point of contact. He could feel how the bluerider shifted his weight to reach the pastry, the pressure of his hands shifting minutely. It was with wide eyes that M’dox watched, trapped by T’bia’s gaze on him. completely unable to look away. Did he want to look away? M’dox wasn’t sure, but it didn’t matter. He was fixed in place, watching T’bia take a bite from the pastry he held.
Even after T’bia pulled away, M’dox’s hand remained extended, holding out the pastry, still transfixed by T’bia’s eyes on him. He watched T’bia’s face as he chewed the dessert, and couldn’t help swallowing nervously when T’bia did. His breath caught again when T’bia squeezed his knee, surprised he had started breathing again at some point in the past… like five seconds? It felt like so much longer. M’dox couldn’t help glancing down when T’bia licked his lips, glancing quickly back up just in time to see T’bia looking away. T’bia’s hands left his leg, and the sudden lack of warmth on his knee made M’dox shiver. He noticed that, despite licking them, there was still a bit of powdered sugar from the pastry on T’bia’s upper lip. M’dox bit his own lip as a quiet, internal war raged about what to say to T’bia about it.
“You have, uhm…” he started, finally dropping the arm holding the pastry just in time for his other arm to reach up, towards T’bia’s face. “Here.” M’dox gently rested his right hand against T’bia’s face, fingers just barely brushing his friend’s jawline. With his thumb M’dox carefully brushed against T’bia’s lip where the powdered sugar was, wiping it off. Instinctively M’dox pulled his hand back and licked the powdered sugar residue off his thumb, not thinking about the action beyond the intent to clean his hand. Realizing what he did, M’dox blushed furiously, looking down as he felt his face warm up even more. “Uh, powdered sugar.” He finished lamely.
