M’ris had a love-hate relationship with his job. He enjoyed making sure things ran smoothly and were up to what he felt were appropriate and still achievable standards. He hated, however, having to actually be in charge of seemingly everything. Having everyone look to him for solutions and as a role model was tiring and he took every opportunity he could to relax or just simply sneak away when he really needed to. Today was actually one of the better days where people seemed to know what their jobs were and didn’t need to run to him every ten minutes looking for direction or an idea to solve a minor issue. He was proud of his people and took a little longer enjoying a break with Ameris since he knew she needed the breaks as much as he did.
After pushing their lunch date as long as they possibly could before the crazy mentors started harping at them to get back to work, M’ris walked Ameris back to her office in a leisurely stroll, once more taking their time and enjoying the cooler air of the season. He didn’t procrastinate nearly as long as he would have liked in her office, though, thanks to a knock at the door not long after they arrived. With a sigh, M’ris said he’d answer it for her on his way out.
An amused and slightly confused look fell into place when he saw T’ryn panting at the door after what must have been a long run. He wasn’t too concerned given the fact the young man was carrying something and wasn’t trying to shout out a concern or emergency situation that happened in the minutes they were out of sight so he simply waved the boy in and turned back to Ameris, now grinning.
“I thought I was the only out of breath and flushed bronzerider that you saw.” M’ris laughed as he saw T’ryn’s eyes go wide at the implication and his cheeks burn bright red. He clapped the young man on the back and walked him further into the room.
