It was far too early to be awake. Indivara was quick to come to that realisation as she stared across V’ler’s chest, upon which her head was resting. She could feel his arm lazily at her back, and feel the rise and fall of his chest beneath her cheek. His heartbeat was slow and steady; the lucky bastard was still asleep. Generally, she would be inclined to wake him up, just to be a bitch, but she was feeling kinder, due to his broken arm. It had been five days, but she knew it was still causing him a lot of pain and he wasn’t sleeping as well as he usually did. He was also drinking too much Fellis in her opinion, but she was holding her tongue on that, against all her usual traits.
But why was she awake? It was barely past dawn, with the sun just creeping over the edge of the horizon. Indivara reached out for Venseth, and was startled by the array of emotions the young blue dragon was feeling. Indivara frowned, and sat up slightly, resting her weight across V’ler’s chest as she untangled their legs so she could pull her own up under herself. “Venseth?” She asked cautiously, speaking out loud in her confusion. What was going on in his pretty blue head? “Ven?” He wasn’t answering her, which was causing her some confusion and concern; Venseth never ignored her.
You’re awake, he purred, and Indivara quivered, unsure why he was being so strange. Of course she was awake! He was being strange and it obviously woke her up. Indivara frowned, and climbed carefully over V’ler so she could get to the floor, tugging his shirt down so it covered her, falling down to her knees, as she padded across the weyr to the awning doorway covered with hides that separated the dragons from their human partners. “Venseth? What’s going on?” She didn’t like surprises, she didn’t like being ignored, and her beautiful dragon was doing both of these things to her. She frowned when she stepped past the hides, and saw Venseth perched on the edge of the weyr, his gaze focused on something outside.
“Venseth! Stop ignoring me!”
She calls me, he murmured, and Indivara frowned, then lost all the colour from her face. She struggled to move, stumbling to the edge of the weyr just as Venseth took flight, and angling towards the lower area where a few blue dragons were collecting. Indivara stood, shocked, as he landed, crooning and chirping at the green dragon preening in the glowing dawn light. Indivara felt her stomach churn in apprehension. Spinning away from the edge of the weyr, she dashed back into the main living area, practically throwing herself on the bed and shaking V’ler’s shoulder roughly.
“Val! Val wake up! Help me!” she cried, feeling Venseth’s lust curl in her stomach, mixing with the sheer terror that was painted across her face. Despite her lessons in Weyrlinghood, and despite all the lessons she was taking to learn to be a Weyrlingmaster, it hadn’t really prepared her for the moment when she’d lose herself to her dragon’s lust, and she was terrified, and that terror made her forget everything she’d learned. She stared blankly at V’ler, shivering.
