D'ren wasn't seated at the Weyrleaders' table as he was supposed to be. He'd been convinced to wear his finery, but that was as far as he was willing to go at the moment. The celebration hadn't even properly started yet! He would ascend to his podium in a while when it was time to give his speech, but for now, he was enjoying a nice, relaxed evening among his riders.
He'd noticed young Jada and her precious little Krypth long before they turned in his direction. He noted with some mirth that the little gold seemed to be herding Jada in his direction. He wondered if the little dragonling was aware of his rank or if it just wanted to say hello at random.
D'ren couldn't be prouder of his Ronarth. He'd sired a clutch of seventeen, and while there was one dud, there was also a precious little golden queen. She was a symbol of hope, something to be cherished and admired. That wasn't all, either! Vyaniorth, a handsome and sturdy bronze, was larger at hatching than Ronarth had been at his. Ronarth was a large bronze, too. Vyaniorth would be a valuable. Many of the greens and blues were hearty and healthy as well, though the lack of browns was puzzling. Puzzling, but not too bad of a loss. Krypth was worth everything.
"Hello, Jjada," D'ren said cordially as the pair approached. He'd never met the girl, but he kept a close eye on the files the searchriders delivered to him....not that anyone was missing the name of Pern's new goldrider at this point. The Weyrleader rose to his feet and extended one hand, delicately taking Jada's and kissing the top. "It's a pleasure to meet you. Would you like to have a seat?"
Yes, he was highly interested in meeting the new goldrider. He and Tsuen would be old one day, after all. Shards, they practically already were. Jada was an important girl.
