A soft smile broke out on M'dox's face, relieved that the initial seemed to have decreased a little. He felt he had figured out how to communicate with T'bia better. The bluerider seemed prone to say a lot, which gave M'dox an easier time. Having T'bia give his opinions so readily made it easier not to accidentally say something that would contradict his beliefs. It helped even more that in this case M'dox agreed with him.
"Yes, I'm glad he was my Searcher. I heard stories from some of the other Weyrlings during training. Some of them never saw their Searcher again. It really is nice of R'nd to check in on the people he's Searched. Since, you know, you don't really know anyone in the Weyr if you've been Searched. Having at least one recurring friendly face really helps. Especially one as nice as R'nd."
He was a little unsure what T'bia meant by 'mentor,' though. M'dox was fairly confident that there was no formal mentorship for riders other than golds and bronzes. Was it an unofficial thing? Just something T'bia called the other bluerider to express how helpful he's been? M'dox thought T'bia was Weyrborn, but perhaps not, if he knew R'nd so well? How to figure that out...
"Ayyonth is a very nice dragon. First dragon I ever rode too, since he carried me back to Katila. How about you? Was he the first dragon you rode too?"
