Life always had a way of making sure Ameris came out on top. First survival in the south, then Mizeath and then this. She had no problem considering what she had, even if it was only fleeting, with M'ris coming out on top. For all his gruff mannerisms there was simply something about the bronzerider that she was drawn too. Maybe it was his ability to bludgeon everything over the head with apparent ease while she herself tried for diplomacy that made her eyes sparkle with mischief and hands to cover grins. They made for a cohesive partnership and Ameris found she quite enjoyed it. The addition of their daughter helped too. Eris was a delight and Ameris wouldn't trade her for the world.
She was sipping at a cup of klah when Casa approached their table. The girl was bright and sunny, her dragon a good match for the girl and neither Ameris or Mizeath could find fault with them. Not that Mizeath had much to say about the rest of the golds in the weyr, many were too young to be much competition, Mizeath was queen bee and she knew it.I am no where near as bad as that, the gold gave a gruntled response that had Ameris grinning into her cup. Certainly m'dear, Ameris told as Casa began speaking. She'd known Okalinath had clutched, her own missive on the event long discarded but the goldrider had expected a slightly longer wait than it was. "I thought for sure it would be at least another fortnight," she murmured.
"Really, M'ris," she said as she rolled her eyes at his behavior when he snatched at the paper Casa had placed on the table. Never one to enjoy being interrupted as much as he did, Ameris knew this was his punishment for the young girl. She would make it better though, "Why don't you sit Casa and have some fruit and some klah?" Ameris was very good at being diplomatic. She hadn't been a long time ago, preferring to snap and snarl her way through life but Mizeath had changed all that. Being in charge of a weyr changed all that. "How are you liking life at Ista? Besides weyrleaders who like to grump all day?" the last was said with a raised brow and a poorly concealed grin. Perhaps she could convince him to take her along on his visit to Telgar. It had been much too long since she'd visited with some of the older goldriders.
