Hair: Rich copper tones that range from light to dark and falls midway down her back. Her fringe is kept long and often brushed off to one side. It is often worn loose just as regularly as it is worn up in a runner’s tail.
Height: 5’7
General Appearance: Being a child in exile didn’t do much to help her physique in adulthood. Vendaris is of a smaller frame, sometimes appearing to border on underfed and all skin and bones if she has been sick for days or run ragged. Due to the unbalanced diet of youth combined with her mother’s slight frame, Vendaris is slim and developed a small yet pleasing – in her biased opinion – chest, though she does lack in womanly curves that men seem to love. Not at all helping this petite appearance is her height that comes mostly from long legs.

Her skin is neither tanned nor pale but a speckling of freckles are on her arms and even chest thanks to turn after turn in the hot southern sun. Her mother says it’s a curse of their pretty red hair but Vendaris doesn’t mind them; they’re just another thing that makes her who she is.

Due to a vicious feline attack during exile, Vendaris has long scars from claws on her stomach, back, and thighs. For a while she left them completely covered at all times but now she’s not afraid to show them off when in the bath or at the lake. Typically her clothes still cover them but it’s not done out of shame.

Dressing Style: Very casual and comfortable describes her every day wear since she’s often busy with chores that range from berry gathering to laundry to even helping in the crèche. Colour isn’t overly important to Vendaris and while it was interesting to see the latest Northern styles coming in with the Stolen Candidates, she doesn’t pay much attention to that either. When it comes to fancy gatherings, a dress is sported, though again, colour, length, and style don’t usually factor into it. She’s a dream for any budding tailor.

[color=#B03677]General Character Traits:
While she wouldn’t say she’s a walking contradiction, Vendaris does have a few things about her that go against each other.

On one hand, she enjoys life and every party is filled with dancing and smiles. Life is too short for those without a dragon to keep pouting over everything and to keep to themselves. On the other hand, however, she also enjoys time alone for reflection and a moment’s peace. It’s not good to dwell on things but it isn’t healthy to pretend nothing happened either. A happy medium is always needed and Vendaris will take the needed time to get away from everything for a short span of time to make sure she is still balanced and in check.

Thanks to her time with R’nd, Vendaris learned that nothing should be given only fifty percent. Everything should have full attention and all the passion that can be given, even if it’s only a short fling. Give it all, or what’s the point? R’nd made her feel like she was the only girl in the world in his eyes when they were together and Vendaris not only wants to always experience that but wants to give it back to others in return. She’s become very attentive and if she loves spending time with someone, she’ll make sure they’re aware of it.

Then again, she’s also a bit playful and might try to tease that someone by pretending she’s not paying attention. Such tactics are held for special occasions and special people. She’s learned who she can play around with and who is better left given strictly clear and honest answers to.

Overall, not much really gets to her. She has seen a lot in her youth from exile and survived it all. To Vendaris, there can’t be much worse than looking into the mouth of a feline or the fear that gripped her for the entire flight to the South. She’s very relaxed and goes with the flow. Like any normal human being, she can become angry or upset but those emotions are reserved for special occasions and Vendaris doesn’t let much affect her. Someone’s having a bad day and taking it out on her? She’ll shrug, let them yell, and continue on with her day.

Likes:
    Dancing: It’s carefree fun but it can also be sensuous. It is, after all, a vertical expression of a horizontal desire.
    Rain: Only a special sort of person goes out in the rain so she finds interesting people along her strolls between the raindrops. It also washes away the grime and misery of the day before the sun comes out to lift all moods once more. Dancing in the rain is held in the highest regard.
    Baths: There is nothing better than a long soak in the tub at the end of the day. It’s relaxing and a good time to be alone with thoughts. Of course, a friend in the tub is just as nice since they can help scrub those hard to reach spots since being clean is an added bonus to the tub time.
    Snuggling Under the Blankets: Whether alone or with someone, being wrapped up in a blanket on a cool night is comforting.
Dislikes:
    Slackers: If you have a job; do it. She likes the idea of not doing chores but it only hurts others and your own reputation. Work harder and faster to have more free time afterward.
    Felines: She hates that she’s afraid of them since the attack (that’s letting them win!) but she is. She still tenses up when one is seen and does her best to get away unnoticed.
    Talkers That Aren’t Listeners: Everything takes two. She hates people that love to talk and don’t give a chance to anyone else or tune out when someone has something to say. It’s rude!
Habits/Mannerisms: When she’s thinking, Vendaris will usually tap a finger on her lower lip. It almost looks like she’s biting the nail or sucking on the digit but it’s really just resting there.
Strengths:
    Good Communicator: While some might see it as talking too much, Vendaris knows how to express herself. Even when she’s in one of her quiet moods, that is easily conveyed and people know to leave her alone.
    Patient: Why rush through things? Chores, she can understand so free time can be enjoyed but taking time to enjoy the free time is nice. Waiting for a friend to arrive or a solution to be found for a problem doesn’t bother her either. Some things need a little extra time. She’s not going anywhere.
    Diplomatic: Since she goes with the flow and doesn’t seek to stir up trouble, Vendaris is good at seeing both sides of a situation and will even at times offer up what she knows to assist others. Some might call it more conniving and sneaky than anything else.
Flaws:
    Detached: While she may have learned to give her all in regards to passion and desire, Vendaris can come across as aloof and detached to the problems of others thanks to carefree nature.
    No True Motherly Instinct: She is an only child so she never even experienced having to look after a younger sibling. Since giving birth to both children, she felt no true connection to them and easily offered both daughters to her parents to raise. Now that they are older she spends more time with them but she has no real knack of mothering and is more of a friend.
    Comes on too Strong: Even with her mellow vibe, Vendaris can be a bit too much for some to handle with her desire to talk or simply enjoy life. She can struggle with toning herself down at times depending on the environment.

Background Story:
    207 & 0: Vendaris is born.
    216 & 9: With the order to go South to avoid the plague, Vendaris is taken along by her parents. There was a brief moment of considering leaving her at a Hold but the child wouldn’t hear of it and the parents that had yet to conceive again in the end couldn’t part with her.
    216-219 & 9-12: For the most part, exile isn’t too bad for the young girl in terms of keeping herself busy with exploring and making up solitary games but the lack of variety in food and how scarce it could be wasn’t nearly as fun.
    220 & 13: Towards the end of exile, Vendaris is attacked by a feline while she’s out gathering fruit for the day’s meals. She is horribly mauled on her stomach, back, and thighs and in bed for nearly a sevenday as the fever from the infection grips her.
    220 & 13: The call to reunite is met with mixed emotions. She’s thrilled to be back with people other than her parents but is shocked to see how little remain, especially from their Weyr. Her recent attack leaves just as confused since proper Healers can look after her but she’s ashamed of the marks
    225 & 18: Vendaris finds herself pregnant from an encounter with D’hys while he was caught up in flight lust. The sex was rough and he was far from kind in regards to her scarring to the point that she was turned off of sexual encounters with men. Up to this point, she didn’t care what gender her lover was so long as she was attracted to them. The child was kept solely because her mother had conceived only once before but miscarried. She wanted to give back to her parents and lets them have main care of the girl.
    227 & 20: She was lucky enough to receive R’nd’s attention and after his kindness and pretty smile wore her down, Vendaris learned to love passion no matter who she was with again. Her fling with the flighty bluerider left her pregnant again and she gave birth to a second daughter. Her parents are thrilled to have another child to look after. She doesn’t Stand for Renewed Hope due to the pregnancy.
    231 & 24: Stands for World Above and fails to Impress. It was her first Hatching and while disappointed, life moves on and Vendaris bounces back quickly. D’ren’s announcement that women needed to have a child to Stand doesn’t bother her since she already had two kids and thinks it’s a small price to pay for the others to have a chance at a dragon. B’jin’s lashing breaks her heart and Vendaris wonders how someone could do that to another human, orders or no.

    232 & 24: Firelizards! Vendaris was shocked to see them again but doesn’t attempt to Impress one. She, like many others, is still cautious around them. Near the end of the turn, Weyrleader D’ren is poisoned and Vendaris can’t fathom why anyone would harm a kind man. When S’kef takes over, suspicions arise but she doesn’t voice them. She’s just thankful gentle Ronarth and D’ren are okay.
    233 & 25: Midway through the turn, World Above graduates and S’kef uses it to announce female riders no longer have honorifics. It’s another shock and odd at first but there aren’t that many female riders since the plague and she only called her mother ‘mom’ anyway. Vendaris also makes the decision to no longer Stand shortly after this. She’s close to aging out and honestly no longer minds that she’ll never have a dragon. It would have been wonderful but it allows for more freedom and her thoughts are still only her own.
    234 & 27: The landslide rocked her world as much as it did the Weyr as it took her father away from her. Her children and mother survive and she cherishes her time with them all the more. She still doesn’t take over watching the kids full time, especially as she sees her mom needs that connection more than she does.

Education Details Vendaris was only beginning the basics when the plague hit. Her parents did the best they could by reading to her from the few books she had packed or drawing letters and words in the sand. At Katila, she sat in on some lessons but her writing is sloppy and she has no head for numbers. Reading to the children in the crèche is about all she is good for in terms of assisting in education.
